Peter Korsgaard 93e9b5378d package/neardal: unconditionally use libedit
neardal is licensed under LGPL-2.0, which is (most likely) not license
compatible with readline (GPL-3.0+), so always use the libedit backend.

The choice is done by ./configure, which first checks for libedit, and
uses readline only as a fallback. Since we do build libedit before
neardal, that's what is going to be picked up.

Peter Korsgaard 7387a50c30 package/neardal: license is LGPL-2.0, not GPL-2.0
COPYING states LGPL-2.0, not GPL-2.0:

                  GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
                       Version 2, June 1991

So use that for the license tag.

Rahul Bedarkar af31c309e7 boot, linux, package: use SPDX short identifier for GPLv2/GPLv2+
We want to use SPDX identifier for license strings as much as possible.
SPDX short identifier for GPLv2/GPLv2+ is GPL-2.0/GPL-2.0+.

This change is done by using following command.
find . -name "*.mk" | xargs sed -ri '/LICENSE( )?[\+:]?=/s/\<GPLv2\>/GPL-2.0/g'

Romain Naour 42a068fdce package/neardal: add .hash file
Similar to jquery-keyboard, it seems the neardal tarball on the
autobuilder is corrupt. Fix it by adding a .hash file so it falls back to
our s.b.o mirror.

Arnout Vandecappelle 7d69a79624 packages: use backtick instead of $(shell ...) make function
It is often difficult to know exactly when make will expand the
variable, and usually it can only be expanded after the dependencies
have been built (e.g. pkg-config or the .pc file). Using a backtick
instead makes it very clear that it will be expanded only while
executing the command.

This change is useful for two cases:

1. The per-package staging (and host) directory will be created as part
of the configure step, so any $(shell ...) variable that is used in
the configure step will fail because the directory doesn't exist
   yet.

2. 'make printvars' evaluates the variables it prints. It will therefore
trigger a lot of errors from missing .pc files and others. The
backticks, on the other hand, are not expanded, so with this change
the output of 'make printvars' becomes clean again.

This commit contains only the easy changes: replace $(shell ...) with
`...`, and also replace ' with " where needed. Follow-up commits will
tackle the more complicated cases that need additional explanation.

After this change, the following instances of $(shell ...) will remain:

- All assignments that use :=
- All variables that are used in make conditionals (which don't expand
  the backticks).
- All variables that only refer to system executables and make
  variables that don't change.
- The calls to check-host-* in dependencies.mk, because it is eval'ed.

Peter Korsgaard 1ae0e16afd neardal: properly quote output of pkg-config
Commit 5504039c4e (neardal: fix readline/libedit detection with static
linking) added the output of pkg-config to the LIBS shell variable without
adding quotes around it, breaking the logic if the output would ever consist
of more than 1 word.

Now, pkg-config --libs ncurses currently only outputs '-lncurses', so
nothing is really broken (for now atleast), but lets add the quotes before
it does or the syntax gets copied somewhere else where it does.

Peter Korsgaard 5504039c4e neardal: fix readline/libedit detection with static linking

Both readline and libedit link with ncurses but the configure script forgets
to take that into account, causing the detection to fail when linking
statically.

Fix it by using pkg-config to add the needed linker options for ncurses.

Thomas De Schampheleire be084204eb Config.in files: add missing dependencies to toolchain option comments
When a package A depends on config option B and toolchain option C, then
the comment that is given when C is not fulfilled should also depend on B.
For example:

config BR2_PACKAGE_A
	depends on BR2_B
	depends on BR2_LARGEFILE
	depends on BR2_WCHAR

comment "A needs a toolchain w/ largefile, wchar"
	depends on !BR2_LARGEFILE || !BR2_WCHAR

This comment should actually be:

comment "A needs a toolchain w/ largefile, wchar"
	depends on BR2_B
	depends on !BR2_LARGEFILE || !BR2_WCHAR

or if possible (typically when B is a package config option declared in that
same Config.in file):

if BR2_B

comment "A needs a toolchain w/ largefile, wchar"
	depends on !BR2_LARGEFILE || !BR2_WCHAR

[other config options depending on B]

endif

Otherwise, the comment would be visible even though the other dependencies
are not met.

This patch adds such missing dependencies, and changes existing such
dependencies from
  depends on BR2_BASE_DEP && !BR2_TOOLCHAIN_USES_GLIBC
to
  depends on BR2_BASE_DEP
  depends on !BR2_TOOLCHAIN_USES_GLIBC
so that (positive) base dependencies are separate from the (negative)
toolchain dependencies. This strategy makes it easier to write such comments
(because one can simply copy the base dependency from the actual package
config option), but also avoids complex and long boolean expressions.

Spenser Gilliland 51788521b7 libglib2: needs threads
This commit adds a dependency of the libglib2 package on thread
support in the toolchain, since upstream libglib2 doesn't build
without thread support. The commit is rather large as it involves
propagating the dependency on thread support to all reverse
dependencies of the libglib2 package.

[Thomas: squash all patches into one, make a few minor fixes, the most
important one being to not add comments about MMU requirement when a
package doesn't work on !MMU platforms.]
