Mauro Carvalho Chehab ebbfbc2006 [media] em28xx: push mutex down to extensions on .fini callback
Avoid circular mutex lock by pushing the dev->lock to the .fini
callback on each extension.

As em28xx-dvb, em28xx-alsa and em28xx-rc have their own data
structures, and don't touch at the common structure during .fini,
only em28xx-v4l needs to be locked.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 34906633fa [media] em28xx-audio: don't wait for lock in non-block mode
Pulseaudio has the bad habit of stopping a streaming audio if
a device, opened in non-block mode, waits.

It is impossible to avoid em28xx to wait, as it will send commands
via I2C, and other I2C operations may be happening (firmware
transfers, Remote Controller polling, etc). Yet, as each em28xx
subdriver locks em28xx-dev to protect the access to the hardware,
it is possible to minimize the audio glitches by returning -EAGAIN
to pulseaudio, if the lock is already taken by another subdriver.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 49677aef90 [media] em28xx-audio: fix the period size in bytes
If the period size is wrong, userspace will assume a wrong delay
any may negociate an inadequate value.

The em28xx devices use 8 for URB interval, in microframes,
and the driver programs it to have 64 packets.

That means that the IRQ sampling period is 125 * 8 * 64,
with is equal to 64 ms.

So, that's the minimal latency with the current settings. It is
possible to program a lower latency, by using less than 64 packets,
but that increases the amount of bandwitdh used, and the number of
IRQ events per second.

In any case, in order to support it, the driver logic should be
changed to fill those parameters in realtime.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 1b3fd2d342 [media] em28xx-audio: don't hardcode audio URB calculus
The current code hardcodes the number of audio URBs, the number
of packets per URB and the maximum URB size.

This is not a good idea, as it:

- wastes more bandwidth than necessary, by using a very
  large number of packets;

- those constants are bound to an specific scenario, with
  a bandwidth of 48 kHz;

- don't take the maximum endpoint size into account;

- with urb->interval = 1 on xHCI, those constraints cause a "funny"
setup: URBs with 64 packets inside, with only 24 bytes total. E. g.
  a complete waste of space.

Change the code to do dynamic URB audio calculus and allocation.

For now, use the same constraints as used before this patch, to
avoid regressions.

A good scenario (tested) seems to use those defines, instead:

	#define EM28XX_MAX_AUDIO_BUFS          8
	#define EM28XX_MIN_AUDIO_PACKETS       2

But let's not do such change here, letting the optimization to
happen on latter patches, after more tests.

Just filling urb->interval with 1 is wrong, and causes a different
behaviour with xHCI.

With EHCI, the URB size is typically 192 bytes. However, as
xHCI specifies intervals in microframes, the URB size becomes
too short (24 bytes).

With this patch, the interval will be properly initialized, and
the device will behave the same if connected into a xHCI or an
EHCI device port.

Frank Schaefer 687ff8b0c4 [media] em28xx: fix I2S audio sample rate definitions and info output
The audio configuration in chip config register 0x00 and eeprom are always
consistent. But currently the audio configuration #defines for the chip config
register say 0x20 means 3 sample rates and 0x30 5 sample rates, while the eeprom
info output says 0x20 means 1 sample rate and 0x30 3 sample rates.

I've checked the datasheet excerpts I have and it seems that the meaning of
these bits is different for em2820/40 (1 and 3 sample rates) and em2860+
(3 and 5 smaple rates).
I have also checked my Hauppauge WinTV USB 2 (em2840) and the chip/eeprom
audio config 0x20 matches the sample rates reproted by the USB device
descriptor (32k only).

The em28xx driver only calls subdevices' .s_power() method to power them
down, relying on the hardware to wake up automatically, which is usually
the case with tuners. This was acceptable with the old .standby() method,
but is wrong with .s_power(). Fixing the driver would be difficult due to
a broad supported hardware base. Instead this patch makes use of the
unbalanced_power soc-camera subdevice flag to tell the ov2640 driver to
balance calls to v4l2_clk_enable() and v4l2_clk_disable() internally.

Frank Schaefer 6914d70ecf [media] em28xx: remove GPIO register caching
The GPIO register caching is the result of wrong assumptions and incomplete
knowledge about the GPIO registers and their functionality.
Today, we know that it is not needed.
It is also limited to a single register and therefore incomplete (newer chips
are using multiple registers).
Instead of extending the caching, get rid of it, because it has no real
benefits and just bloats/complicates the code.

Frank Schaefer a3ea4bf98b [media] em28xx: add support for em25xx i2c bus B read/write/check device operations
The webcam "SpeedLink VAD Laplace" (em2765 + ov2640) uses a special algorithm
for i2c communication with the sensor, which is connected to a second i2c bus.
We don't know yet how to find out which devices support/use it.
It's very likely used by all em25xx and em276x+ bridges.
Tests with other em28xx chips (em2820, em2882/em2883) show, that this
algorithm always succeeds there although no slave device is connected.
The algorithm likely also works for real i2c client devices (OV2640 uses SCCB),
because the Windows driver seems to use it for probing Samsung and Kodak
sensors.

ALL of the following 3 conditions are met:
- i2c bus B is used
- there was no attempt to write to the specified slave address before

With the current code, this triggers an -EIO error and prints a message to the

Because it can happen very often during device probing, it is better to ignore
this error and bail out silently after the follwing i2c transaction success

Putting em28xx in suspend mode when a feed stops is just plain
wrong. Every time a new PES filter is changed, the DVB demux
code will stop the current feed, and then start a new one.
If are there any code that switches off the frontend, via
some GPIO setting, this would make the DVB fail.
This condition was actually trigged with one device, during
DVB scan, as, during scan, it is common that userspace apps
to change the filter several times, in order to get all
tables.
Also, this is not needed at all, since the em28xx code already
hooks into ops.ts_bus_ctrl(). This warrants that em28xx can
check there if DVB frontend is in usage or not. The code there
already puts the device on suspend mode, if the DVB frontend
is not used (closed).

Frank Schaefer 33f6984ece [media] em28xx: fix analog streaming with USB bulk transfers
With the conversion to videobuf2, some unnecessary calls of
em28xx_set_alternate() have been removed. It is now called at analog streaming
start only.
This has unveiled a bug that causes USB bulk transfers to fail with all urbs
having status -EVOERFLOW.
The reason is, that for bulk transfers usb_set_interface() needs to be called
even if the previous alt setting was the same (side note: bulk transfers seem
to work only with alt=0).
While it seems to be NOT necessary for isoc transfers, it's reasonable to just
call usb_set_interface() unconditionally in em28xx_set_alternate().
Also add a comment that explains the issue to prevent regressions in the future.

EEPROMs are currently read in blocks of 16 bytes, but the em2800 is limited
to 4 bytes per read. All other chip variants support reading of max. 64 bytes
at once (according to the em258x datasheet; also verified with em2710, em2882,

Since em2800_i2c_recv_bytes() has been fixed to return with -EOPNOTSUPP when
more than 4 bytes are requested, EEPROM reading with this chip is broken.
It was actually broken before that change, too, it just didn't throw an error

Using bulk mode allows more than one webcam, as the maximum fps
is low at 640x480 resolution. So, prefer it, if the device is
a webcam.

Tested with Silvercrest 1.3 Mpixel webcam (em2710) on both bulk and isoc
modes.

Tested analog with HVR-950 model 65201/A1C0 (em2883), where only ISOC
endpoints are available for both DVB and Analog.

Tested on Hauppauge WinTV USB 2 (em2840) on both bulk and isoc modes.

It should be noticed that enabling bulk mode by default with TV boards
is a bad idea; what happens is that, while with ISOC the USB logic will
prevent the concurrent usage of two devices that spends more than 100%
of the USB2 traffic, it doesn't care with bulk transfers.

On my tests, I started two streams, one with a WinTV at 640x480x30fps
and the other one with a Silvercrest webcam at 640x480, on a lower fps)
both on bulk mode. One of the streams always silently failed.

As both bulk and isoc modes can be available, display what it
was found for both DVB and analog.

While here, also displays if audio is provided via USB Audio

Mauro Carvalho Chehab b5cff595bd [media] em28xx: prefer_bulk parameter is read-only
As the bulk mode is set at device's probe, it is not possible
to change it later. So, change the parameter to be read only
after modprobing.

Frank Schaefer 36016a351d [media] em28xx: clean up and unify functions em28xx_copy_vbi() em28xx_copy_video()
The code in em28xx_vbi_copy can be simplified a lot.
Also rename some variables to something more meaningful and fix+add the
function descriptions.

Frank Schaefer 227b7c9067 [media] em28xx: move the em2710/em2750/em28xx specific frame data processing code to a separate function
em28xx_urb_data_copy() actually consists of two parts:
USB urb processing (checks, data extraction) and frame data packet processing.
Move the latter to a separate function and call it from em28xx_urb_data_copy()
for each data packet.
The em25xx, em2760, em2765 (and likely em277x) chip variants are using a
different frame data format, for which support will be added later with
another function.
This reduces the size of em28xx_urb_data_copy() and makes the code much more
readable. While we're at it, clean up the code a bit (rename some variables to
something more meaningful, improve some comments etc.)

Frank Schaefer e04c00d985 [media] em28xx: em28xx_urb_data_copy(): move duplicate code for capture_type=0 and capture_type=2 to a function
Reduce code duplication by moving the duplicate code for dev->capture_type=0
(vbi start) and dev->capture_type=2 (video start) to a function.
The same function will also be called by the (not yet existing) em25xx frame
data processing code.

Frank Schaefer 4078d625c9 [media] em28xx: move caching of pointer to vmalloc memory in videobuf to struct em28xx_buffer
In the current code em28xx_urb_data_copy() caches the pointer to the vmalloc
memory in videobuf locally.
The alternative would be to call videobuf_to_vmalloc() for each processed USB
data packet (isoc USB transfers => 64 times per URB) in the em28xx_copy_*()
functions.
With the next commits, the data processing code will be split into functions
for serveral reasons:
- em28xx_urb_data_copy() is generally way to long, making it less readable
- there is code duplication between VBI and video data processing
- support for em25xx data processing (uses a different header and frame
end signaling mechanism) will be added
This would require extensive usage of pointer-pointers, which usually makes the
code less readable and prone to bugs.
The better solution is to cache the pointer in struct em28xx_buffer.
This also improves consistency, because we already track the buffer fill count there.

Frank Schaefer a48370158d [media] em28xx: refactor VBI data processing code in em28xx_urb_data_copy()
When a new frame header is detected in em28xx_urb_data_copy() and the data
packet contains both, VBI data and video data, the prevoius VBI buffer doesn't
get finished and is overwritten with the new VBI data.
This bug is not triggered with isochronous USB transfers, because the data
packetes are much smaller than the VBI data size.
But when using USB bulk transfers, the whole data of an URB is treated as
single packet, which is usually much larger then the VBI data size.
Refactor the VBI data processing code to fix this bug, but also to simplify the
code and make it similar to the video data processing code part (which allows
further code abstraction/unification in the future).
The changes have been tested with device "Hauppauge HVR-900".

Frank Schaefer 8732533b32 [media] em28xx: move field 'pos' from struct em28xx_dmaqueue to struct em28xx_buffer
This field is used to keep track of the current memory position in the buffer,
not in the dma queue, so move it to right place.
This also allows us to get rid of the struct em28xx_dmaqueue pointer parameter
in functions em28xx_copy_video() and em28xx_copy_vbi().
