Remove mmiowb() from the kernel memory barrier API and instead, for

  The only relatively recent changes have been addressing review
  comments on the documentation, which is in a much better shape thanks
  to the efforts of Ben and Ingo.

  I was initially planning to split this into two pull requests so that

  sailing in linux-next so I've just included the whole lot here to keep

Martyna Szapar 24474f2709 i40e: Fix of memory leak and integer truncation in i40e_virtchnl.c
Fixed possible memory leak in i40e_vc_add_cloud_filter function:
cfilter is being allocated and in some error conditions
the function returns without freeing the memory.

Fix of integer truncation from u16 (type of queue_id value) to u8
when calling i40e_vc_isvalid_queue_id function.

Gustavo A. R. Silva 825f0a4eb7 i40e: Use struct_size() in kzalloc()
One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:

struct foo {
    int stuff;
    struct boo entry[];
};

size = sizeof(struct foo) + count * sizeof(struct boo);
instance = kzalloc(size, GFP_KERNEL)

Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can
now use the new struct_size() helper:

instance = kzalloc(struct_size(instance, entry, count), GFP_KERNEL)

Notice that, in this case, variable size is not necessary, hence it
is removed.

This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle.

Maciej Paczkowski 0a92892c69 i40e: Revert ShadowRAM checksum calculation change
The reason of this revert is unexpected issue found in NVM Update tool
during NVM image downgrade. The implementation is no longer needed
since the QV tools are already aware of new FW double ShadowRAM dump
mechanism.

This patch reverts ShadowRAM checksum calculation change introduced in
commit 9d12f0c4e436 ("i40e: Revert ShadowRAM checksum calculation change")

Aleksandr Loktionov 2e45d3f467 i40e: Add support for X710 B/P & SFP+ cards
New device ids are created to support X710 backplane and SFP+ cards.

This patch adds in i40e driver support for 2.5GbaseT and 5GbaseT speed.
It's implemented by checking I40E_CAP_PHY_TYPE_2_5GBASE_T,
I40E_CAP_PHY_TYPE_5GBASE_T bits from f/w and setting corresponding bits
in ethtool link ksettings supported and advertising masks.

Grzegorz Siwik 40a23040d8 i40e: Setting VF to VLAN 0 requires restart
This patch fixes a bug where changing VLAN to 0 was not set until VF
restart.

Now we are setting pvid info to 0 when we have to change VLAN to 0.
Without this change when VF VLAN was changed to 0 nothing happened until
VF restart. For changing to VLAN different than 0 it worked correctly.

Grzegorz Siwik 937f599a11 i40e: VF's promiscuous attribute is not kept
This patch fixes a bug where the promiscuous mode was not being
kept when the VF switched to a new VLAN.
Now we are config two times a promiscuous mode when we switch VLAN.
Without this change when we change VF VLAN we still receive
all the packets from previous VLAN and only unicast from new VLAN.

Alice Michael 4ff0ee1af0 i40e: Introduce recovery mode support
This patch introduces "recovery mode" to the i40e driver. It is
part of a new Any2Any idea of upgrading the firmware. In this
approach, it is required for the driver to have support for
"transition firmware", that is used for migrating from structured
to flat firmware image. In this new, very basic mode, i40e driver
must be able to handle particular IOCTL calls from the NVM Update
Tool and run a small set of AQ commands.

These additional AQ commands are part of the interface used by
the NVMUpdate tool.  The NVMUpdate tool contains all of the
necessary logic to reference these new AQ commands.  The end user
experience remains the same, they are using the NVMUpdate tool to
update the NVM contents.

Stefan Assmann a121644c14 i40e: print PCI vendor and device ID during probe
Printing each devices PCI vendor and device ID has the advantage of
easily revealing what hardware we're dealing with exactly. It's no
longer necessary to match the PCI bus information to the lspci output.

Helps with bug reports where no lspci output is available.

Harshitha Ramamurthy 1e84682752 i40e: fix misleading message about promisc setting on un-trusted VF
A refactor of the i40e_vc_config_promiscuous_mode_msg function moved
the check for un-trusted VF into another function. We have to lie to
an un-trusted VF that its request to set promiscuous mode is
successful even when it is not because we don't want the VF to find
out its trust status this way. With the refactor, we were running into
a case where even though we were not setting promiscuous mode for an
un-trusted VF, we still printed a misleading message that it was
successful.

This patch fixes that by ensuring that a success message is printed
on the host side only when the promiscuous mode change has been
successful.

Jacob Keller a01e5f222f i40e: remove out-of-range comparisons in i40e_validate_cloud_filter
The function i40e_validate_cloud_filter checks that the destination and
source port numbers are valid by attempting to ensure that the number is
non-zero and no larger than 0xFFFF. However, the types for the dst_port
and src_port variable are __be16 which by definition cannot be larger
than 0xFFFF

Since these values cannot be larger than 2 bytes, the check to see if
they exceed 0xFFFF is meaningless.

One might consider these checks as some sort of defensive coding, in
case the type was later changed. However, these checks also byte-swap
the value before comparison using be16_to_cpu, which will truncate the
values to 16bits anyways. Additionally, changing the type would require
updating the opcodes to support new data layout of these virtchnl
commands.

Remove the check to silence the -Wtype-limits warning that was added to
GCC 8.

VF's attempt to delete vlan 0 when a port vlan is configured is harmless
in this case pf driver just does nothing.  If vf will try to remove
other vlans when a port vlan is configured it will still produce error
as before.

Carolyn Wyborny a1df906c5b i40e: change behavior on PF in response to MDD event
TX MDD events reported on the PF are the result of the
PF misconfiguring a descriptor and not because of "bad actions"
by anything else.  No need to reset now because if it
results in a Tx hang, the Tx hang check will take care of it.

Carolyn Wyborny a7da7f1626 i40e: Fix for allowing too many MDD events on VF
This patch changes the driver behavior when detecting a VF MDD event.
It now disables the VF after one event, which indicates a hw detected
problem in the VF.  Before this change, the PF would allow a couple of
events before doing the reset.

Adam Ludkiewicz 06b6e2a233 i40e: Able to add up to 16 MAC filters on an untrusted VF
This patch fixes the problem with the driver being able to add only 7
multicast MAC address filters instead of 16. The problem is fixed by
changing the maximum number of MAC address filters to 16+1+1 (two extra
are needed because the driver uses 1 for unicast MAC address and 1 for
broadcast).

Piotr Marczak 2622133173 i40e: Fix for 10G ports LED not blinking
On some hardware LEDs would not blink after command 'ethtool -p {eth-port}'
in certain circumstances. Now, function does not care about the activity
of the LED (though still preserves its state) but forcibly executes
identification blinking and then restores the LED state.

Jacob Keller bf4bf09bdd i40e: save PTP time before a device reset
In the case where PTP is running on the hardware clock, but the kernel
system time is not being synced, a device reset can mess up the clock
time.

This occurs because we reset the clock time based on the kernel time
every reset. This causes us to potentially completely reset the PTP
time, and can cause unexpected behavior in programs like ptp4l.

Avoid this by saving the PTP time prior to device reset, and then
restoring using that time after the reset.

Directly restoring the PTP time we saved isn't perfect, because time
should have continued running, but the clock will essentially be stopped
during the reset. This is still better than the current solution of
assuming that the PTP HW clock is synced to the CLOCK_REALTIME.

We can do even better, by saving the ktime and calculating
a differential, using ktime_get(). This is based on CLOCK_MONOTONIC, and
allows us to get a fairly precise measure of the time difference between
saving and restoring the time.

Using this, we can update the saved PTP time, and use that as the value
to write to the hardware clock registers. This, of course is not perfect.
However, it does help ensure that the PTP time is restored as close as
feasible to the time it should have been if the reset had not occurred.

During device initialization, continue using the system time as the
source for the creation of the PTP clock, since this is the best known
current time source at driver load.

This patch introduces DDP (Dynamic Device Personalization) which allows
loading profiles that change the way internal parser interprets processed
frames. To load DDP profiles it utilizes ethtool flash feature. The files
with recipes must be located in /var/lib/firmware directory. Afterwards
the recipe can be loaded by invoking:

    ethtool -f <if_name> <file_name> 100
    ethtool -f <if_name> - 100

mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require
it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was
generated using coccinelle:

relying on mmiowb() to order MMIO writes between CPUs using lock-free
synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can
reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore
the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64
systems.

Florian Westphal 6b16f9ee89 net: move skb->xmit_more hint to softnet data
There are two reasons for this.

First, the xmit_more flag conceptually doesn't fit into the skb, as
xmit_more is not a property related to the skb.
Its only a hint to the driver that the stack is about to transmit another
packet immediately.

Second, it was only done this way to not have to pass another argument
to ndo_start_xmit().

We can place xmit_more in the softnet data, next to the device recursion.
The recursion counter is already written to on each transmit. The "more"
indicator is placed right next to it.

Drivers can use the netdev_xmit_more() helper instead of skb->xmit_more
to check the "more packets coming" hint.

skb->xmit_more is retained (but always 0) to not cause build breakage.

This change takes care of the simple s/skb->xmit_more/netdev_xmit_more()/
conversions.  Remaining drivers are converted in the next patches.

Björn Töpel 44ddd4f170 i40e: add tracking of AF_XDP ZC state for each queue pair
In commit f3fef2b6e1 ("i40e: Remove umem from VSI") a regression was
introduced; When the VSI was reset, the setup code would try to enable
AF_XDP ZC unconditionally (as long as there was a umem placed in the
netdev._rx struct). Here, we add a bitmap to the VSI that tracks if a
certain queue pair has been "zero-copy enabled" via the ndo_bpf. The
bitmap is used in i40e_xsk_umem, and enables zero-copy if and only if
XDP is enabled, the corresponding qid in the bitmap is set and the
umem is non-NULL.

Jacob Keller b3ccbbce1e i40e: fix i40e_ptp_adjtime when given a negative delta
Commit 0ac30ce433 ("i40e: fix up 32 bit timespec references",
2017-07-26) claims to be cleaning up references to 32-bit timespecs.

The actual contents of the commit make no sense, as it converts a call
to timespec64_add into timespec64_add_ns. This would seem ok, if (a) the
change was documented in the commit message, and (b) timespec64_add_ns
supported negative numbers.

timespec64_add_ns doesn't work with signed deltas, because the
implementation is based around iter_div_u64_rem. This change resulted in
a regression where i40e_ptp_adjtime would interpret small negative
adjustments as large positive additions, resulting in incorrect
behavior.

This commit doesn't appear to fix anything, is not well explained, and
introduces a bug, so lets just revert it.

Björn Töpel 59eb2a884f i40e: fix XDP_REDIRECT/XDP xmit ring cleanup race
When the driver clears the XDP xmit ring due to re-configuration or
teardown, in-progress ndo_xdp_xmit must be taken into consideration.

The ndo_xdp_xmit function is typically called from a NAPI context that
the driver does not control. Therefore, we must be careful not to
clear the XDP ring, while the call is on-going. This patch adds a
synchronize_rcu() to wait for napi(s) (preempt-disable regions and
softirqs), prior clearing the queue. Further, the __I40E_CONFIG_BUSY
flag is checked in the ndo_xdp_xmit implementation to avoid touching
the XDP xmit queue during re-configuration.

Magnus Karlsson 14ffeb52f3 i40e: fix potential RX buffer starvation for AF_XDP
When the RX rings are created they are also populated with buffers
so that packets can be received. Usually these are kernel buffers,
but for AF_XDP in zero-copy mode, these are user-space buffers and
in this case the application might not have sent down any buffers
to the driver at this point. And if no buffers are allocated at ring
creation time, no packets can be received and no interrupts will be
generated so the NAPI poll function that allocates buffers to the
rings will never get executed.

To rectify this, we kick the NAPI context of any queue with an
attached AF_XDP zero-copy socket in two places in the code. Once
after an XDP program has loaded and once after the umem is registered.
This take care of both cases: XDP program gets loaded first then AF_XDP
socket is created, and the reverse, AF_XDP socket is created first,
then XDP program is loaded.

Jan Sokolowski f8ebfaf668 net: bpf: remove XDP_QUERY_XSK_UMEM enumerator
Commit c9b47cc1fa ("xsk: fix bug when trying to use both copy and
zero-copy on one queue id") moved the umem query code to the AF_XDP
core, and therefore removed the need to query the netdevice for a
umem.

This patch removes XDP_QUERY_XSK_UMEM and all code that implement that
behavior, which is just dead code.

Pablo Neira Ayuso 8f2566225a flow_offload: add flow_rule and flow_match structures and use them
This patch wraps the dissector key and mask - that flower uses to
represent the matching side - around the flow_match structure.

To avoid a follow up patch that would edit the same LoCs in the drivers,
this patch also wraps this new flow match structure around the flow rule
object. This new structure will also contain the flow actions in follow
up patches.

This introduces two new interfaces:

	bool flow_rule_match_key(rule, dissector_id)

that returns true if a given matching key is set on, and:

	flow_rule_match_XYZ(rule, &match);

To fetch the matching side XYZ into the match container structure, to
retrieve the key and the mask with one single call.

Konstantin Khorenko 31389b53b3 i40e: define proper net_device::neigh_priv_len
Out of bound read reported by KASan.

i40iw_net_event() reads unconditionally 16 bytes from
neigh->primary_key while the memory allocated for
"neighbour" struct is evaluated in neigh_alloc() as

  tbl->entry_size + dev->neigh_priv_len

where "dev" is a net_device.

But the driver does not setup dev->neigh_priv_len and
we read beyond the neigh entry allocated memory,
so the patch in the next mail fixes this.

Michał Mirosław 2a508c64ad i40e: fix VLAN.TCI == 0 RX HW offload
This fixes two bugs in hardware VLAN offload:
 1. VLAN.TCI == 0 was being dropped
 2. there was a race between disabling of VLAN RX feature in hardware
    and processing RX queue, where packets processed in this window
    could have their VLAN information dropped

Fix moves the VLAN handling into i40e_process_skb_fields() to save on
duplicated code. i40e_receive_skb() becomes trivial and so is removed.

Stefan Assmann 158daed16e i40e: fix mac filter delete when setting mac address
A previous commit moved the ether_addr_copy() in i40e_set_mac() before
the mac filter del/add to avoid a race. However it wasn't taken into
account that this alters the mac address being handed to
i40e_del_mac_filter().

Also changed i40e_add_mac_filter() to operate on netdev->dev_addr,
hopefully that makes the code easier to read.

Lihong Yang eab077aa84 i40e: Fix deletion of MAC filters
In __i40e_del_filter function, the flag __I40E_MACVLAN_SYNC_PENDING for
the PF state is wrongly set for the VSI. Deleting any of the MAC filters
has caused the incorrect syncing for the PF. Fix it by setting this state

Jesse Brandeburg 0bcd952fee ethernet/intel: consolidate NAPI and NAPI exit
While reviewing code, I noticed that Eric Dumazet recommends that
drivers check the return code of napi_complete_done, and use that
to decide to enable interrupts or not when exiting poll.  One of
the Intel drivers was already fixed (ixgbe).

Upon looking at the Intel drivers as a whole, we are handling our
polling and NAPI exit in a few different ways based on whether we
have multiqueue and whether we have Tx cleanup included. Several
drivers had the bug of exiting NAPI with return 0, which appears
to mess up the accounting in the stack.

Consolidate all the NAPI routines to do best known way of exiting
and to just mostly look like each other.
1) check return code of napi_complete_done to control interrupt enable
2) return the actual amount of work done.
3) return budget immediately if need NAPI poll again

Tested the changes on e1000e with a high interrupt rate set, and
it shows about an 8% reduction in the CPU utilization when busy
polling because we aren't re-enabling interrupts when we're about
to be polled.

Alan Brady d5585b7b68 i40e: prevent overlapping tx_timeout recover
If a TX hang occurs, we attempt to recover by incrementally resetting.
If we're starved for CPU time, it's possible the reset doesn't actually
complete (or even fire) before another tx_timeout fires causing us to
fly through the different resets without actually doing them.

This adds a bit to set and check if a timeout recovery is already
pending and, if so, bail out of tx_timeout.  The bit will get cleared at
the end of i40e_rebuild when reset is complete.

Mitch Williams 7cd8eb0861 i40e: suppress bogus error message
The i40e driver complains about unprivileged VFs trying to configure
promiscuous mode each time a VF reset occurs. This isn't the fault of
the poor VF driver - the PF driver itself is making the request.

To fix this, skip the privilege check if the request is to disable all
promiscuous activity. This gets rid of the bogus message, but doesn't
affect privilege checks, since we really only care if the unprivileged
VF is trying to enable promiscuous mode.

Mitch Williams 7c3758f783 i40e: don't restart nway if autoneg not supported
On link types that do not support autoneg, we cannot attempt to restart
nway negotiation. This results in a dead link that requires a power
cycle to remedy.

Fix this by saving off the autoneg state and checking this value before
we try to restart nway.

Jacob Keller d5596fd467 i40e: enable NETIF_F_NTUPLE and NETIF_F_HW_TC at driver load
The assignment of the feature flag NETIF_F_NTUPLE and NETIF_F_HW_TC
occurs prior to the initial setup of the local hw_features variable.

This means the features are set as user-changeable, but are not set in
the currently active feature list. This results in the features being
disabled at the driver's initial load.

Move the assignment after the initial assignment of hw_features, and
assign to the local variable. This ensures that NETIF_F_NTUPLE and
NETIF_F_HW_TC are marked as user-changeable, and also enables them by
default when the driver loads.

Jacob Keller a9e510589d intel-ethernet: software timestamp skbs as late as possible
Many of the Intel Ethernet drivers call skb_tx_timestamp() earlier than
necessary. Move the calls to this function to the latest point possible,
just prior to notifying hardware of the new Tx packet when we bump the
tail register.

This affects i40e, iavf, igb, igc, and ixgbe.

The e100, e1000, e1000e, fm10k, and ice drivers already call the
skb_tx_timestamp() function just prior to indicating the Tx packet to
hardware, so they do not need to be changed.

Jacob Keller ba766b8b99 i40e: restore NETIF_F_GSO_IPXIP[46] to netdev features
Since commit bacd75cfac ("i40e/i40evf: Add capability exchange for
outer checksum", 2017-04-06) the i40e driver has not reported support
for IP-in-IP offloads. This likely occurred due to a bad rebase, as the
commit extracts hw_enc_features into its own variable. As part of this
change, it dropped the NETIF_F_FSO_IPXIP flags from the
netdev->hw_enc_features. This was unfortunately not caught during code
review.

Fix this by adding back the missing feature flags.

For reference, NETIF_F_GSO_IPXIP4 was added in commit 7e13318daa
("net: define gso types for IPx over IPv4 and IPv6", 2016-05-20),
replacing NETIF_F_GSO_IPIP and NETIF_F_GSO_SIT.

NETIF_F_GSO_IPXIP6 was added in commit bf2d1df395 ("intel: Add support
for IPv6 IP-in-IP offload", 2016-05-20).

Oza Pawandeep 62b36c3ea6 PCI/AER: Remove pci_cleanup_aer_uncorrect_error_status() calls
After bfcb79fca1 ("PCI/ERR: Run error recovery callbacks for all affected
devices"), AER errors are always cleared by the PCI core and drivers don't
need to do it themselves.

Remove calls to pci_cleanup_aer_uncorrect_error_status() from device
driver error recovery functions.

Björn Töpel 3ab52af58f i40e: disallow changing the number of descriptors when AF_XDP is on
When an AF_XDP UMEM is attached to any of the Rx rings, we disallow a
user to change the number of descriptors via e.g. "ethtool -G IFNAME".

Otherwise, the size of the stash/reuse queue can grow unbounded, which
would result in OOM or leaking userspace buffers.

Björn Töpel 411dc16ff1 i40e: clean zero-copy XDP Rx ring on shutdown/reset
Outstanding Rx descriptors are temporarily stored on a stash/reuse
queue. When/if the HW rings comes up again, entries from the stash are
used to re-populate the ring.

The latter required some restructuring of the allocation scheme for
the AF_XDP zero-copy implementation. There is now a fast, and a slow
allocation. The "fast allocation" is used from the fast-path and
obtains free buffers from the fill ring and the internal recycle
mechanism. The "slow allocation" is only used in ring setup, and
obtains buffers from the fill ring and the stash (if any).

Björn Töpel 9dbb137045 i40e: clean zero-copy XDP Tx ring on shutdown/reset
When the zero-copy enabled XDP Tx ring is torn down, due to
configuration changes, outstanding frames on the hardware descriptor
ring are queued on the completion ring.

The completion ring has a back-pressure mechanism that will guarantee
that there is sufficient space on the ring.
