Guenter Roeck f627ac0e12 watchdog: Use depends instead of select for pretimeout governors
Watchdog pretimeout governors were enabled from the default governor
selection using "select". As a result, the default governor was always
built into the kernel, even if no watchdog driver was loaded. By using
"depends on" instead of "select", we are in better control, and the
governors can all be built as modules. At the same time, set the default
configuration option for pretimeout governors to match WATCHDOG_CORE
(meaning all pretimeout governors are by default enabled if pretimeout
support is enabled).

The practical impact of this change is minimal. Previously, selecting
a default governor automatically enabled that governor. Now, a default
governor can only be selected if that governor has been enabled.
Consequently, the order of governor selection is now reversed: The
governor selection is now first, followed by default governor selection.

Paul Gortmaker 0b468829c3 watchdog: rtd119x: drop unused module.h include
The Kconfig for this driver is:

config RTD119X_WATCHDOG
       bool "Realtek RTD118x/RTD129x watchdog support"

...and hence it doesn't need to include module.h for anything.
There are no other signs of unused modular infrastructure.

Paul Gortmaker 3b02dceec2 watchdog: intel_scu: make it explicitly non-modular
The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is:

config INTEL_SCU_WATCHDOG
       bool "Intel SCU Watchdog for Mobile Platforms"

...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.

Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that
when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only.

We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information
is already contained at the top of the file in the comments.

We leave the moduleparam.h include since the file does declare some
module parameters, and leaving them as such is currently the easiest
way to remain compatible with existing boot arg use cases.

Paul Gortmaker 73027cb8e8 watchdog: coh901327: make it explicitly non-modular
The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is:

config COH901327_WATCHDOG
       bool "ST-Ericsson COH 901 327 watchdog"

...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.

Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that
when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only.

We explicitly disallow a driver unbind, since that doesn't have a
sensible use case anyway, and it allows us to drop the ".remove"
code for non-modular drivers.

Since module_platform_driver() uses the same init level priority as
builtin_platform_driver() the init ordering remains unchanged with
this commit.

Also note that MODULE_ALIAS is a no-op for non-modular code.

We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information
is already contained at the top of the file in the comments.

We replace module.h with moduleparam.h since the file does actually
declare some module parameters (i.e. boot args for non-modules).

Wolfram Sang 34ef4087a1 watchdog: refactor watchdog_init_timeout
The function is not easy to read and has a problem: -EINVAL is returned
when the module parameter is invalid but the DT parameter is OK.

Refactor the code to have the same pattern of checks for the module
parameter and DT. Further ones can be easily added in the future if the
need arises. The above mentioned problem is fixed, too.

Some documentation is added to describe the different handlings of '0'
for the module parameter and the DT property.

Bryan Tan 0a48f239bf watchdog: wdat_wdt: fix get_timeleft call for wdat_wdt
The get_timeleft call for wdat_wdt was using ACPI_WDAT_GET_COUNTDOWN
when running an action on the device, which would return the configured
countdown, instead of ACPI_WDAT_GET_CURRENT_COUNTDOWN, which returns the
time left before the watchdog will fire. This change corrects that.

Georg Hofmann b07e228eee watchdog: imx2_wdt: Fix set_timeout for big timeout values
The documentated behavior is: if max_hw_heartbeat_ms is implemented, the
minimum of the set_timeout argument and max_hw_heartbeat_ms should be used.
This patch implements this behavior.

Guenter Roeck 8dd29f1951 watchdog: rtd119x_wdt: Fix remove function
The driver registers the watchdog with devm_watchdog_register_device() but
still calls watchdog_unregister_device() on remove. Since clocks have to
be stopped when removing the driver, after the watchdog device has been
unregistered, we can not drop the call to watchdog_unregister_device().
Use watchdog_register_device() to register the watchdog.

Anson Huang 986857acbc watchdog: imx_sc: Add i.MX system controller watchdog support
i.MX8QXP is an ARMv8 SoC which has a Cortex-M4 system controller
inside, the system controller is in charge of controlling power,
clock and watchdog etc..

This patch adds i.MX system controller watchdog driver support,
watchdog operation needs to be done in secure EL3 mode via
ARM-Trusted-Firmware, using SMC call, CPU will trap into
ARM-Trusted-Firmware and then it will request system controller
to do watchdog operation via IPC.

Matteo Croce f6cc8b355c watchdog: i6300esb: stop printing kernel addresses
Since commit ad67b74d24 ("printk: hash addresses printed with %p"),
i6300esb prints "____ptrval____" instead of actual addresses:

    i6300ESB timer 0000:00:03.0: initialized (0x(____ptrval____)). heartbeat=30 sec (nowayout=1)

Instead of changing the print to "%px", and leaking kernel addresses,
just remove the print completely, cfr. e.g. commit 071929dbdd
("arm64: Stop printing the virtual memory layout").

Linus Walleij 9540724ca2 ARM: ixp4xx: Add device tree boot support
This adds a minimal support for booting IXP4xx systems
from device tree.

We have to add hacks to the QMGR, NPE and notably also
ethernet and watchdog drivers so that they don't crash
the platform: these drivers are unconditionally starting
to grab regions of statically remapped IO space with no
concern of the device model or other platforms.

We will go in and properly fix these drivers as we go
along but for now this hack gets us to a place where we
can start working on proper device tree support for these
platforms.

Introduce watchdog driver for a various range of Mellanox Ethernet and
Infiniband switch systems.

Watchdog driver for Mellanox watchdog devices, implemented in
programmable logic device.

Main and auxiliary watchdog devices can exist on the same system.
There are several actions that can be defined in the watchdog:
system reset, start fans on full speed and increase a counter.
The last 2 actions are performed without a system reset.
Actions without reset are provided for auxiliary watchdog devices,
which is optional.
Access to HW registers is performed through generic
regmap interface.

There are 2 types of HW watchdog implementations.
Type 1: actual HW timeout can be defined as power of 2 msec.
e.g. timeout 20 sec will be rounded up to 32768 msec.;
maximum timeout period is 32 sec (32768 msec.);
get time-left isn't supported
Type 2: actual HW timeout is defined in sec. and it's the same as
user-defined timeout;
maximum timeout is 255 sec;
get time-left is supported;

Watchdog driver is probed from the common mlx_platform driver.

Loic Poulain 969c0acc03 watchdog: Add pm8916 watchdog driver
The PM816 module is a versatile PMIC with many diverse functions
integrated, including, a watchdog.
This watchdog is subcomponent of the PON (Power On) peripheral,
in the same way as pwrkey/resin buttons.
It works with two timers (2-stages), the first one generates an
IRQ to the main SoC (APQ8016/MSM8916), the second one performs
the reset.

This driver expects the following device hierarchy:
[pm8916]->[pm8916-pon]->[pm8916-wdt]

It uses the pm8916 regmap to access PM8916 registers.

userspace enough time to prepare is our favourite option. So, do not
keep the time value when suspended but reset it when resuming.

Jean Delvare 31eb42bd93 watchdog: w83627hf_wdt: Add quirk for Inves system
On some systems, the NCT6791D comes with a companion chip and the
watchdog function is in this companion chip. We must use a different
unlocking sequence to access the companion chip.

Use DMI strings to identify such system and adjust the unlocking
sequence automatically.

Masahiro Yamada 0126be38d9 kbuild: announce removal of SUBDIRS if used
SUBDIRS has been kept as a backward compatibility since
commit ("[PATCH] kbuild: external module support") in 2002.

We do not need multiple ways to do the same thing, so I will remove
SUBDIRS after the Linux 5.3 release. I cleaned up in-tree code, and
updated the document so that nobody would try to use it.

Meanwhile, display the following warning if SUBDIRS is used.

Marek Behún c8ca6e70fb watchdog: armada_37xx_wdt: use do_div for u64 division
When the driver is built on 32 bit architectures during compile test,
the linker complains about "__udivdi3" being undefined. We have to use
do_div macro instead of the division operator when dividing u64 value.

Marek Behún 54e3d9b518 watchdog: Add support for Armada 37xx CPU watchdog
This adds support for the CPU watchdog found on Marvell Armada 37xx
SoCs.

There are 4 counters which can be set as CPU watchdog counters.
This driver uses the second counter (ID 1, counting from 0) as watchdog
counter, and first counter (ID 0) to implement pinging on the second
counter without the need to disable it.

Since counters IDs 2 and 3 are enabled already before even U-Boot
starts, this driver does not use them at all, for example by adding a
device tree property for counter selection.

Christophe Leroy 38e48b7189 watchdog: mpc8xxx: provide boot status
mpc8xxx watchdog driver supports the following platforms:
- mpc8xx
- mpc83xx
- mpc86xx

Those three platforms have a 32 bits register which provides the
reason of the last boot, including whether it was caused by the
watchdog.

mpc8xx: Register RSR, bit SWRS (bit 3)
mpc83xx: Register RSR, bit SWRS (bit 28)
mpc86xx: Register RSTRSCR, bit WDT_RR (bit 11)

This patch maps the register as defined in the device tree and updates
wdt.bootstatus based on the value of the watchdog related bit. Then
the information can be retrieved via the WDIOC_GETBOOTSTATUS ioctl.

Hereunder is an example of devicetree for mpc8xx,
the Reset Status Register being at offset 0x288:

		WDT: watchdog@0 {

		};

On the mpc83xx, RSR is at offset 0x910
On the mpc86xx, RSTRSCR is at offset 0xe0094
