As we'll be removing entity subtypes from the Kernel, we need
to provide a way for drivers and core to check if a given
entity is represented by a V4L2 subdev or if it is an V4L2
I/O entity (typically with DMA).
Drivers that create entities that don't belong to any defined subdev
category should use MEDIA_ENT_T_V4L2_SUBDEV_UNKNOWN.

The entire logic that represent graph links were developed on a
time where there were no needs to dynamic remove links. So,
although links are created/removed one by one via some
functions, they're stored as an array inside the entity struct.
As the array may grow, there's a logic inside the code that
checks if the amount of space is not enough to store
the needed links. If it isn't the core uses krealloc()
to change the size of the link, with is bad, as it
leaves the memory fragmented.
So, convert links into a list.
Also, currently, both source and sink entities need the link
at the graph traversal logic inside media_entity. So there's
a logic duplicating all links. That makes it to spend
twice the memory needed. This is not a big deal for today's
usage, where the number of links are not big.
Yet, if during the MC workshop discussions, it was said that
IIO graphs could have up to 4,000 entities. So, we may
want to remove the duplication on some future. The problem
is that it would require a separate linked list to store
the backlinks inside the entity, or to use a more complex
algorithm to do graph backlink traversal, with is something
that the current graph traversal inside the core can't cope
with. So, let's postpone a such change if/when it is actually
needed.
It should also be noticed that the media_link structure uses
44 bytes on 32-bit architectures and 84 bytes on 64-bit
architecture. It will thus be allocated out of the 64-bytes and
96-bytes pools respectively. That's a 12.5% memory waste on
64-bit architectures and 31.25% on 32-bit architecture.
A linked list is less efficient than an array in this case, but
this could later be optimized if we can get rid of the reverse
links (with would reduce memory allocation by 50%).

Interfaces are different than entities: they represent a
Kernel<->userspace interaction, while entities represent a
piece of hardware/firmware/software that executes a function.
Let's distinguish them by creating a separate structure to
store the interfaces.
Later patches should change the existing drivers and logic
to split the current interface embedded inside the entity
structure (device nodes) into a separate object of the graph.

With the new API, a link can be either between two PADs or between an interface
and an entity. So, we need to use a better name for the function that create
links between two pads.
So, rename the such function to media_create_pad_link().
No functional changes.

PADs also need unique object IDs that won't conflict with
the entity object IDs.
The pad objects are currently created via media_entity_init()
and, once created, never change.
While this will likely change in the future in order to
support dynamic changes, for now we'll keep PADs as arrays
and initialize the media_gobj embedded structs when
registering the entity.

As entities are graph objects, let's embed media_gobj
on it. That ensures an unique ID for entities that can be
global along the entire media controller.
For now, we'll keep the already existing entity ID. Such
field need to be dropped at some point, but for now, let's
not do this, to avoid needing to review all drivers and
the userspace apps.

Due to the MC API proposed changes, we'll need to have an unique
object ID for all graph objects, and have some shared fields
that will be common on all media graph objects.
Right now, the only common object is the object ID, but other
fields will be added later on.

Currently, media_entity_init() creates an array with the links,
allocated at init time. It provides a parameter (extra_links)
that would allocate more links than the current needs, but this
is not used by any driver.
As we want to be able to do dynamic link allocation/removal,
we'll need to change the implementation of the links. So,
before doing that, let's first remove that extra unused
parameter, in order to cleanup the interface first.

Add new media controller API to allocate media device as a
device resource. When a media device is created on the main
struct device which is the parent device for the interface
device, it will be available to all drivers associated with
that interface. For example, if a usb media device driver
creates the media device on the main struct device which is
common for all the drivers that control the media device,
including the non-media ALSA driver, media controller API
can be used to share access to the resources on the media
device. This new interface provides the above described
feature. A second interface that finds and returns the media
device is added to allow drivers to find the media device
created by any of the drivers associated with the device.

The handling of q->plane_sizes was wrong in vb2_core_create_bufs().
The q->plane_sizes array was global and it was overwritten by create_bufs.
So if reqbufs was called with e.g. size 100000 then q->plane_sizes[0] would
be set to 100000. If create_bufs was called afterwards with size 200000,
then q->plane_sizes[0] would be overwritten with the new value. Calling
create_bufs again for size 100000 would cause an error since 100000 is now
less than q->plane_sizes[0].
This patch fixes this problem by 1) removing q->plane_sizes and using the
vb->planes[].length field instead, and 2) by introducing a min_length field
in struct vb2_plane. This field is set to the plane size as returned by
the queue_setup op and is the minimum required plane size. So user pointers
or dmabufs should all be at least this size.

The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2
and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to
VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information
from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format.
After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer,
which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will
effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format.
To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed:
the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument
is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then
it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array
contains the requested sizes. If either is unsupported, then return
-EINVAL, otherwise use the requested size(s).

Add the new match_reduced_fps argument to v4l2_match_dv_timings().
Depending on the situation you may or may not desire to match the
reduced_fps flag. Typically only HDMI transmitters will need to
check for this flag.

Added a helper function to check necessary conditions required for
reduced fps. The reduced fps is supported for CVT and CEA861 timings.
CVT supports reduced fps only if reduced blanking v2 (indicated by
vsync = 8) is true. Whereas CEA861 supports reduced fps if
V4L2_DV_FL_CAN_REDUCE_FPS flag is true.

Currently, include/media is messy, as it contains both the V4L2 core
headers and some driver-specific headers on the same place. That makes
harder to identify what core headers should be documented and what
headers belong to I2C drivers that are included only by bridge/main
drivers that would require the functions provided by them.
Let's move those i2c specific files to its own subdirectory.

The struct tuner_params is almost fully documented, but
using a non-standard way. Convert it to doc-nano format,
and add descriptions for the parameters that aren't
documented yet.

Remove some bad whitespaces before tabs and fix the initial
comment to be compliant with Kernel coding style.
Now, the only complains are about long comment lines at the
defines. Those warnings should be ok to be kept.

Right now, "private:" tag should be lower-case, otherwise the
scripts/kernel-doc won't do the right thing.
Also, no fields after "private:" should be documented. As we don't
want to strip the documentation, let's untag. This way, it will
be seen only at the file, and not at the DocBooks.

Make videobuf2-v4l2 as a wrapper of videobuf2-core for v4l2-use.
And replace videobuf2-core.h with videobuf2-v4l2.h.
This renaming change should be accompanied by the modifications
of all device drivers that include videobuf2-core.h.

In the function configure_geometry(), we will setup the ISI CFG2
according to the sensor output format.
It make no sense to just read back the CFG2 register and just set part
of it.
So just set up this register directly makes things simpler.
Currently only support YUV format from camera sensor.

Most of the stuff at videobuf2-core are ok for adding it to
DocBook.
Two notes here:
1) As videobuf2-core will be soon be changed, better to
not spend too much efforts right now, as things will
change soon;
2) struct vb2_queue has a number of private elements that are
documented. As Kernel nano documentation format handles
"private:" arguments, we need to put them on a separate
comment block or to remove. Keeping the comments is
obviously better ;)

The comments for struct v4l2_subdev_video_ops are out of the
order as the parameter would appear at struct. This is not
a problem for DocBook, but humans find harder to mentally
reorder ;)

Add a new helper function called v4l2_subdev_notify_event() which will
deliver the specified event to both the v4l2 subdev event queue as well as
to the notify callback. The former is typically used by userspace
applications to listen to notification events while the later is used by
bridge drivers. Combining both into the same function avoids boilerplate
code in subdev drivers.

Buffers can be returned back to videobuf2 in driver's streamon handler. In
this case vb2_buffer_done() with buffer state VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED will
cause the driver's buf_queue vb2 operation to be called, queueing the same
buffer again only to be returned to videobuf2 using vb2_buffer_done() and so
on.
Add a new buffer state VB2_BUF_STATE_REQUEUEING which, when used as the
state argument to vb2_buffer_done(), will result in buffers queued to the
driver. Using VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED will leave the buffer to videobuf2, as it
was before "[media] vb2: allow requeuing buffers while streaming".

The LIRC protocol was always a bad fit and if we're ever going to expose
protocol numbers in a user-space API, it'd be better to get rid of the
LIRC "protocol" first.
The sysfs API is kept backwards compatible by always listing the lirc
protocol as present and enabled.

Added support for reduced blanking version 2 (RB v2) in cvt timings.
Standard specifies a fixed vsync pulse of 8 lines to indicate RB v2
timings. Vertical back porch is fixed at 6 lines and vertical front
porch is remainder of vertical blanking time.
For RB v2, horizontal blanking is fixed at 80 pixels. Horizontal sync
is fixed at 32. All horizontal timing counts (active pixels, front,
back porches) can be specified upto a precision of 1.
RB v2 allows for non standard aspect ratios. In RB v2 vsync does not
indicate aspect ratio. In absence of aspect ratio v4l2_detect_cvt()
cannot calculate image width from image height. Hence extending the
v4l2_detect_cvt() to pass image width in case of RB v2.

This patch adds helper functions for registering/unregistering
LED Flash class devices as V4L2 sub-devices. The functions should
be called from the LED subsystem device driver. In case the
support for V4L2 Flash sub-devices is disabled in the kernel
config the functions' empty versions will be used.

V4L2 async sub-devices are currently matched (OF case) based on the struct
device_node pointer in struct device. LED devices may have more than one
LED, and in that case the OF node to match is not directly the device's
node, but a LED's node.

The TS35 remote is distributed with TechniSat CableStar HD2 cards (mantis
chipset). The exact protocol type is unknown, making this rc map probably only
usable by mantis cards.

Extend detect_cvt/gtf API to indicate the format type (interlaced
or progressive). In case of interlaced, the vertical front and back
porch and vsync values for both (odd,even) fields are considered to
derive image height. Populated vsync, vertical front, back porch
values in bt timing structure for even and odd fields and updated
the flags appropriately.
Also modified the functions calling the detect_cvt/gtf(). As of now
these functions are calling detect_cvt/gtf() with interlaced flag
set to false.

The adv7511 sets up InfoFrames that are used when transmitting video.
Log the contents of those InfoFrames so it is possible to see exactly what
the transmitter is sending.

In the past the transfer function was implied by the colorspace. However,
it is an independent entity in its own right. Add support for explicitly
choosing the transfer function.
This change will allow us to represent linear RGB (as is used by openGL), and
it will make it easier to work with decoded video material since most codecs
store the transfer function as a separate property as well.

Replace the dummy video format operations by pad format operations that
configure the output format.
Copied from the adv7604 driver.
Note: while arch/blackfin/mach-bf609/boards/ezkit.c uses adv7842_platform_data
this source has not been updated because it is broken since the very
beginning. It depends on a struct adv7842_output_format that does not
exist.
And besides that gcc has no support for bf609 so nobody can compile it
except by installing a toolchain from ADI.

Nuvoton-cir utilizes the encoding capabilities of rc-core to convert
scancodes from user space to pulse/space format understood by the
underlying hardware.
Converted samples are then written to the wakeup fifo along with other
necessary configuration to enable wake up functionality.

Add support in rc-core for drivers which implement the wakeup scancode
filter by encoding the scancode using the raw IR encoders. This is by
way of rc_dev::encode_wakeup which should be set to true to make the
allowed wakeup protocols the same as the set of raw IR encoders.
As well as updating the sysfs interface to know which wakeup protocols
are allowed for encode_wakeup drivers, also ensure that the IR
decoders/encoders are loaded when an encode_wakeup driver is registered.

Add a callback to raw ir handlers for encoding and modulating a scancode
to a set of raw events. This could be used for transmit, or for
converting a wakeup scancode filter to a form that is more suitable for
raw hardware wake up filters.

If the last buffer was dequeued from a capture queue, let poll return
immediately and let DQBUF return -EPIPE to signal there will no more
buffers to dequeue until STREAMOFF.
The driver signals the last buffer by setting the V4L2_BUF_FLAG_LAST.
To reenable dequeuing on the capture queue, the driver must explicitly
call vb2_clear_last_buffer_queued. The last buffer queued flag is
cleared automatically during STREAMOFF.

The link-frequencies property is a variable length array of link frequencies
in an endpoint. The array is needed by an increasing number of drivers, so
it makes sense to add it to struct v4l2_of_endpoint.
However, the length of the array is variable and the size of struct
v4l2_of_endpoint is fixed since it is allocated by the caller. The options
here are
1. to define a fixed maximum limit of link frequencies that has to be the
global maximum of all boards. This is seen as problematic since the maximum
could be largish, and everyone hitting the problem would need to submit a
patch to fix it, or
2. parse the property in every driver. This doesn't sound appealing as two
of the three implementations submitted to linux-media were wrong, and one of
them was even merged before this was noticed, or
3. change the interface so that allocating and releasing memory according to
the size of the array is possible. This is what the patch does.
v4l2_of_alloc_parse_endpoint() is just like v4l2_of_parse_endpoint(), but it
will allocate the memory resources needed to store struct v4l2_of_endpoint
and the additional arrays pointed to by this struct. A corresponding release
function v4l2_of_free_endpoint() is provided to release the memory allocated
by v4l2_of_alloc_parse_endpoint().
In addition to this, the link-frequencies property is parsed as well, and
the result is stored to struct v4l2_of_endpoint field link_frequencies.

The vb2: fix bytesused == 0 handling (8a75ffb) patch changed the behavior
of __fill_vb2_buffer function, so that if bytesused is 0 it is set to the
size of the buffer. However, bytesused set to 0 is used by older codec
drivers as as indication used to mark the end of stream.
To keep backward compatibility, this patch adds a flag passed to the
vb2_queue_init function - allow_zero_bytesused. If the flag is set upon
initialization of the queue, the videobuf2 keeps the value of bytesused
intact in the OUTPUT queue and passes it to the driver.

V4L2 clocks, e.g. used by camera sensors for their master clock, do not
have to be supplied by a different V4L2 driver, they can also be
supplied by an independent source. In this case the standart kernel
clock API should be used to handle such clocks. This patch adds support
for such cases.

Add lane_polarities field to struct v4l2_of_bus_mipi_csi2 and write the
contents of the lane-polarities property to it. The field tells the polarity
of the physical lanes starting from the first one. Any unused lanes are
ignored, i.e. only the polarity of the used lanes is specified.
Also rework reading the "data-lanes" property a little.

The video port clock is l3_ick divided by vpclk_div. This clock must be high
enough for the external pixel rate. The video port requires two clock cycles
to process a pixel.

Make omap3isp configuration data structures more suitable for consumption by
the DT by separating the I2C bus information of all the sub-devices in a
group and the ISP bus information from each other. The ISP bus information
is made a pointer instead of being directly embedded in the struct.
In the case of the DT only the sensor specific information on the ISP bus
configuration is retained. The structs are renamed to reflect that.
After this change the structs needed to describe device configuration can be
allocated and accessed separately without those needed only in the case of
platform data. The platform data related structs can be later removed once
the support for platform data can be removed.

The video and pad ops are duplicates, so get rid of the more limited video op.
The whole point of the subdev API is to allow reuse of subdev drivers by
bridge drivers. Having duplicate ops makes that much harder. We should never
have allowed duplicate ops in the first place. A lesson for the future.

If a subdevice pad op is called from a bridge driver, then there is
no v4l2_subdev_fh struct that can be passed to the subdevice. This
made it hard to use such subdevs from a bridge driver.
This patch replaces the v4l2_subdev_fh pointer by a v4l2_subdev_pad_config
pointer in the pad ops. This allows bridge drivers to use the various
try_ pad ops by creating a v4l2_subdev_pad_config struct and passing it
along to the pad op.
The v4l2_subdev_get_try_* macros had to be changed because of this, so
I also took the opportunity to use the full name of the v4l2_subdev_get_try_*
functions in the __V4L2_SUBDEV_MK_GET_TRY macro arguments: if you now do
'git grep v4l2_subdev_get_try_format' you will actually find the header
where it is defined.
One remark regarding the drivers/staging/media/davinci_vpfe patches: the
*_init_formats() functions assumed that fh could be NULL. However, that's
not true for this driver, it's always set. This is almost certainly a copy
and paste from the omap3isp driver. I've updated the code to reflect the
fact that fh is never NULL.

The handling of VIDIOC_G/S_PRIORITY is now entirely done by the V4L2
core, so we can drop the g/s_priority ioctl ops.
We do have to make sure though that when S_PRIORITY is called we check
that the driver used struct v4l2_fh. This check can be removed once all
drivers are converted to that structure.

To keep V4L2 drivers that did not yet convert to unlocked_ioctl happy,
the v4l2 core had a .ioctl file operation that took a V4L2 lock.
The last drivers are now converted to unlocked_ioctl, so all this
old code can now be removed.

The burst length could be BEATS_4/8/16. Before this patch, isi use default
value BEATS_4. To imporve the performance we could set it to BEATS_16.
Otherwise sometime it would cause the ISI overflow error.

The previous provision for DVB media controller support were to
define an ID (likely meaning the adapter number) for the DVB
devnodes.
This is just plain wrong. Just like V4L, DVB devices (and any other
device node)) are uniquely identified via a (major, minor) tuple.
This is enough to uniquely identify a devnode, no matter what
API it implements.
So, before we go too far, let's mark the old v4l, fb, dvb and alsa
"devnode" info as deprecated, and just call it as "dev".
We can latter add fields specific to each API if needed.
As we don't want to break compilation on already existing apps,
let's just keep the old definitions as-is, adding a note that
those are deprecated at media-entity.h.

The videobuf_dma_init* and videobuf_dma_map() functions are no longer
used except in videobuf-dma-sg.c itself. Make them static.
These functions were abused in various drivers. All those drivers
have now been fixed, so by no longer exporting these functions
future abuse is now prevented.

The old debug field is renamed to dev_debug to ensure that existing drivers
(including out-of-tree drivers) that try to use the old name will no longer
compile. A comment has also been added that makes it explicit that drivers
shouldn't use this field.
Additional bits have been added to the debug flag to be more fine-grained
when debugging, especially when dealing with streaming ioctls and read,
write and poll. You want to enable those explicitly to prevent flooding
the log when streaming unless you actually want to do that.

The 'write' argument is very ambiguous. I first assumed that if it is 1,
then we're doing video output but instead it meant the reverse.
Since it is used to setup the dma_dir value anyway it is now replaced by
the correct dma_dir value which is unambiguous.

Add device tree support by changing the device registration order.
In the device tree the si4713 node is a normal I2C device, which
will be probed as such. Thus the V4L device must be probed from
the I2C device and not the other way around.

moved media bus definition to include/uapi/linux/media-bus-format.h and
prefixed values with MEDIA_BUS_FMT instead of V4L2_MBUS_FMT.

The recent conversion of saa7134 to vb2 unconvered a poll() bug that
broke the teletext applications alevt and mtt. These applications
expect that calling poll() without having called VIDIOC_STREAMON will
cause poll() to return POLLERR. That did not happen in vb2.
This patch fixes that behavior. It also fixes what should happen when
poll() is called when STREAMON is called but no buffers have been
queued. In that case poll() will also return POLLERR, but only for
capture queues since output queues will always return POLLOUT
anyway in that situation.
This brings the vb2 behavior in line with the old videobuf behavior.

The fpc_table_addr is used as an unsigned integer that stores
an address. At the Kernel, the proper type for such integers
is unsigned long.
This generates lots of warnings when compiling on 64 bits.

The reason is that vb2_fop_mmap and vb2_fop_get_unmapped_area take the core lock
while they are called with the mmap_sem semaphore held. But elsewhere in the code
the core lock is taken first but calls to copy_to/from_user() can take the mmap_sem
semaphore as well, potentially causing a classical A-B/B-A deadlock.
However, the mmap/get_unmapped_area calls really shouldn't take the core lock
at all. So what would happen if they don't take the core lock anymore?
There are two situations that need to be taken into account: calling mmap while
new buffers are being added and calling mmap while buffers are being deleted.
The first case works almost fine without a lock: in all cases mmap relies on
correctly filled-in q->num_buffers/q->num_planes values and those are only
updated by reqbufs and create_buffers *after* any new buffers have been
initialized completely. Except in one case: if an error occurred while allocating
the buffers it will increase num_buffers and rely on __vb2_queue_free to
decrease it again. So there is a short period where the buffer information
may be wrong.
The second case definitely does pose a problem: buffers may be in the process
of being deleted, without the internal structure being updated.
In order to fix this a new mutex is added to vb2_queue that is taken when
buffers are allocated or deleted, and in vb2_mmap. That way vb2_mmap won't
get stale buffer data. Note that this is a problem only for MEMORY_MMAP, so
even though __qbuf_userptr and __qbuf_dmabuf also mess around with buffers
(mem_priv in particular), this doesn't clash with vb2_mmap or
vb2_get_unmapped_area since those are MMAP specific.
As an additional bonus the hack in __buf_prepare, the USERPTR case, can be
removed as well since mmap() no longer takes the core lock.
All in all a much cleaner solution.

Under Xen, vmalloc_32() isn't guaranteed to return pages which are really
under 4G in machine physical addresses (only in virtual pseudo-physical
addresses). To work around this, implement a vmalloc variant which
allocates each page with dma_alloc_coherent() to guarantee that each
page is suitable for the device in question.

The hole point of IR_dprintk() is that, once a level is
given at debug parameter, all enabled IR parsers will show their
debug messages.
While converting it to dynamic_printk might be a good idea,
right now it just makes very hard to debug the drivers, as
one needs to both pass debug=1 or debug=2 to rc-core and
to use the dynamic printk to enable all the desired lines.
That doesn't make sense!
So, revert to the old way, as a single line is changed,
and the debug parameter will now work as expected.

The si4713 supports several RDS features not yet implemented in the driver.
This patch adds the missing RDS functionality to the list of RDS controls.
The ALT_FREQS control is a compound control containing an array of up
to 25 (the maximum according to the RDS standard) frequencies. To support
that the V4L2_CTRL_TYPE_U32 was added.

A lot of work was done in vb2 to regulate how drivers and the vb2 core handle
buffer ownership, but inexplicably the videobuf2-core.h comments were never
updated. Do so now. The same was true for the replacement of the -ENOBUFS
mechanism by the min_buffers_needed field.

Rather than always having to use a v4l2_ext_control struct to set
a control value from within a driver, switch to just setting the
new value. This is faster and it makes it possible to set more
complex types such as a string control as is added by this
patch.

The basic API of rc-core used to be:

which is a pretty common pattern in the kernel, after the introduction of
protocol arrays the API looks something like:

There's no real need for the protocols to be an array, so change it
back to be consistent (and in preparation for the following patches).

Right now the protocol information is not preserved, rc-core gets handed a
scancode but has no idea which protocol it corresponds to.
This patch (which required reading through the source/keymap for all drivers,
not fun) makes the protocol information explicit which is important
documentation and makes it easier to e.g. support multiple protocols with one
decoder (think rc5 and rc-streamzap). The information isn't used yet so there
should be no functional changes.

The arguments used for ir-kbd-i2c's get_key() functions are not
really suited for rc-core and the ir_raw/ir_key distinction is
just confusing.
Convert all of them to return a protocol/scancode/toggle triple instead.

Implement unlocked variants of v4l2_ctrl_s_ctrl() and
v4l2_ctrl_s_ctrl_int64(). As drivers need to set controls as they access
driver internal state elsewhere than in the control framework unlocked
variants of these functions become handy.

Drivers may use the v4l2_ctrl_modify_range() internally as part of other
operations that need to be both serialised using a driver's lock which can
also be used to serialise access to the control handler. Provide an unlocked
version of the function, __v4l2_ctrl_modify_range() which then may be used
by drivers for the purpose.

When a fatal error occurs that render the device unusable, the only
options for a driver to signal the error condition to userspace is to
set the V4L2_BUF_FLAG_ERROR flag when dequeuing buffers and to return an
error from the buffer prepare handler when queuing buffers.
The buffer error flag indicates a transient error and can't be used by
applications to detect fatal errors. Returning an error from vb2_qbuf()
is thus the only real indication that a fatal error occurred. However,
this is difficult to handle for multithreaded applications that requeue
buffers from a thread other than the control thread. In particular the
poll() call in the control thread will not notify userspace of the
error.
This patch adds an explicit mechanism to report fatal errors to
userspace. Drivers can call the vb2_queue_error() function to signal a
fatal error. From this moment on, buffer preparation will return -EIO to
userspace, and vb2_poll() will set the POLLERR flag and return
immediately. The error flag is cleared when cancelling the queue, either
at stream off time (through vb2_streamoff) or when releasing the queue
with vb2_queue_release().
