Linus Torvalds 1ee89c519a The clk fixes for 4.0-rc4 comprise three themes. First are the usual
driver fixes for new regressions since v3.19. Second are fixes to the
common clock divider type caused by recent changes to how we round clock
rates. This affects many clock drivers that use this common code.
Finally there are fixes for drivers that improperly compared struct clk
pointers (drivers must not deref these pointers). While some of these
drivers have done this for a long time, this did not cause a problem
until we started generating unique struct clk pointers for every
consumer. A new function, clk_is_match was introduced to get these
drivers working again and they are fixed up to no longer deref the
 pointers themselves.

Michael Turquette 3d3801effd clk: introduce clk_is_match
Some drivers compare struct clk pointers as a means of knowing
if the two pointers reference the same clock hardware. This behavior is
dubious (drivers must not dereference struct clk), but did not cause any
regressions until the per-user struct clk patch was merged. Now the test
for matching clk's will always fail with per-user struct clk's.

clk_is_match is introduced to fix the regression and prevent drivers
from comparing the pointers manually.

Uwe Kleine-König 9315514252 clk: divider: fix calculation of initial best divider when rounding to closest
Similar to the reasoning for the previous commit

	DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST(parent_rate, rate)

might not be the best integer divisor to get a good approximation for
rate from parent_rate (given the metric for CLK_DIVIDER_ROUND_CLOSEST).

For example assume a parent rate of 1000 Hz and a target rate of 700.
Using DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST the suggested divisor gets calculated to 1
resulting in a target rate of 1000 with a delta of 300 to the desired
rate. With choosing 2 as divisor however the resulting rate is 500 which
is nearer to 700.

Uwe Kleine-König 26bac95aa8 clk: divider: fix selection of divider when rounding to closest
It's an invalid approach to assume that among two divider values
the one nearer the exact divider is the better one.

Assume a parent rate of 1000 Hz, a divider with CLK_DIVIDER_POWER_OF_TWO
and a target rate of 89 Hz. The exact divider is ~ 11.236 so 8 and 16
are the candidates to choose from yielding rates 125 Hz and 62.5 Hz
respectivly. While 8 is nearer to 11.236 than 16 is, the latter is still
the better divider as 62.5 is nearer to 89 than 125 is.

Uwe Kleine-König da321133b5 clk: divider: fix calculation of maximal parent rate for a given divider
The rate provided at the output of a clk-divider is calculated as:

	DIV_ROUND_UP(parent_rate, div)

since commit b11d282dbe (clk: divider: fix rate calculation for
fractional rates). So to yield a rate not bigger than r parent_rate
must be <= r * div.

The effect of choosing a parent rate that is too big as was done before
this patch results in wrongly ruling out good dividers.

Note that this is not a complete fix as __clk_round_rate might return a
value >= its 2nd parameter. Also for dividers with
CLK_DIVIDER_ROUND_CLOSEST set the calculation is not accurate. But this
fixes the test case by Sascha Hauer that uses a chain of three dividers
under a fixed clock.

Linus Torvalds 18a8d49973 The clock framework changes for 3.20 contain the usual driver additions,
enhancements and fixes mostly for ARM32, ARM64, MIPS and Power-based

hardware clock but is a true per-user cookie which helps us tracker
users of hardware clocks and debug bad behavior. The second major change
is the addition of rate constraints for clocks. Rate ranges are now
supported which are analogous to the voltage ranges in the regulator
framework. Unfortunately these changes to the core created some
breakeage. We think we fixed it all up but for this reason there are
lots of last minute commits trying to undo the damage.

Tomeu Vizoso ec02ace8ca clk: Only recalculate the rate if needed
We don't really need to recalculate the effective rate of a clock when a
per-user clock is removed, if the constraints of the later aren't
limiting the requested rate.

This was causing problems with clocks that never had a rate set before,
as rate_req would be zero. Though this could be considered a bug in the
implementation of those clocks, this should be checked somewhere else.

Javier Martinez Canillas 4e907ef6bd clk: Replace explicit clk assignment with __clk_hw_set_clk
The change in the clk API to return a per-user clock instance, moved
the clock state to struct clk_core so now the struct clk_hw .core field
is used instead of .clk for most operations.

So for hardware clocks that needs to share the same clock state, both
the .core and .clk pointers have to be assigned but currently only the
.clk is set. This leads to NULL pointer dereference when the operations
try to access the hw clock .core. For example, the composite clock rate
and mux components didn't have a .core set which leads to this error:

Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000034

Javier Martinez Canillas 9e0ad7d28a clk: Don't dereference parent clock if is NULL
The clock passed as an argument to clk_mux_determine_rate_flags()
has the CLK_SET_RATE_PARENT flag set but it has no parent, then a
NULL pointer will tried to be dereferenced.

This shouldn't happen since setting that flag for a clock with no
parent is a bug but the core should be robust to handle that case.

Linus Torvalds 18656782a8 ARM: SoC driver updates
These are changes for drivers that are intimately tied to some SoC
and for some reason could not get merged through the respective
 subsystem maintainer tree.

This time around, much of this is for at91, with the bulk of it being syscon
 and udc drivers.

 Also, there's:
 - coupled cpuidle support for Samsung Exynos4210
 - Renesas 73A0 common-clk work
 - of/platform changes to tear down DMA mappings on device destruction
 - a few updates to the TI Keystone knav code

Linus Torvalds a233bb742a ARM: SoC DT updates
DT changes continue to be the bulk of our merge window contents.

We continue to have a large set of changes across the board as new platforms
 and drivers are added.

Some of the new platforms are:
 - Alphascale ASM9260
 - Marvell Armada 388
 - CSR Atlas7
 - TI Davinci DM816x
 - Hisilicon HiP01
 - ST STiH418

There have also been some sweeping changes, including relicensing of DTS
contents from GPL to GPLv2+/X11 so that the same files can be reused in
other non-GPL projects more easily. There's also been changes to the
DT Makefile to make it a little less conflict-ridden and churny down
 the road.

Linus Torvalds 878ba61aa9 ARM: SoC platform changes
New and updated SoC support. Also included are some cleanups where the
platform maintainers hadn't separated cleanups from new developent in
 separate branches.

Some of the larger things worth pointing out:

 - A large set of changes from Alexandre Belloni and Nicolas Ferre
preparing at91 platforms for multiplatform and cleaning up quite a
   bit in the process.
 - Removal of CSR's "Marco" SoC platform that never made it out to the
market. We love seeing these since it means the vendor published
support before product was out, which is exactly what we want!

 New platforms this release are:

 - Conexant Digicolor (CX92755 SoC)
 - Hisilicon HiP01 SoC
 - CSR/sirf Atlas7 SoC
 - ST STiH418 SoC
 - Common code changes for Nvidia Tegra132 (64-bit SoC)

We're seeing more and more platforms having a harder time labelling
changes as cleanups vs new development -- which is a good sign that
we've come quite far on the cleanup effort. So over time we might start
combining the cleanup and new-development branches more.

Stephen Boyd 73e0e496af clkdev: Always allocate a struct clk and call __clk_get() w/ CCF
of_clk_get_by_clkspec() returns a struct clk pointer but it

Code: ebfff4ae e5943014 e5942018 e3530000 (e5823000)

Let's create a per-user handle here so that clk_put() can
properly unlink it and free the handle. Now that we allocate a
clk structure here we need to free it if __clk_get() fails so
bury the __clk_get() call in __of_clk_get_from_provider(). We
need to handle the same problem in clk_get_sys() so export
__clk_free_clk() to clkdev.c and do the same thing, except let's
use a union to make this code #ifdef free.

This fixes the above crash, properly calls __clk_get() when
of_clk_get_from_provider() is called, and cleans up the clk
structure on the error path of clk_get_sys().

Stefan Wahren 039e597075 clk: mxs: Fix invalid 32-bit access to frac registers
According to i.MX23 and i.MX28 reference manual [1],[2] the fractional
clock control register is 32-bit wide, but is separated in 4 parts.
So write instructions must not apply to more than 1 part at once.

The clk init for the i.MX28 violates this restriction and all the other
accesses on that register suggest that there isn't such a restriction.

This patch restricts the access to this register to byte instructions and
extends the comment in the init functions.

Btw the imx23 init now uses a R-M-W sequence just like imx28 init
to avoid any clock glitches.

The changes has been tested with a i.MX23 and a i.MX28 board.

Michael Turquette b09d6d9910 clk: remove clk-private.h
Private clock framework data structures should be private, surprisingly.

Now that all platforms and drivers have been updated to remove static
initializations of struct clk and struct clk_core objects and all
references to clk-private.h have been removed we can move the
definitions of these structures into drivers/clk/clk.c and delete the
header.

Additionally the ugly DEFINE_CLK macros have been removed. Those were
used for static definitions of struct clk objects. That practice is no
longer allowed.

Finally __clk_init is staticized as it is no longer declared in any
header.

Tomeu Vizoso 035a61c314 clk: Make clk API return per-user struct clk instances
Moves clock state to struct clk_core, but takes care to change as little API as
possible.

struct clk_hw still has a pointer to a struct clk, which is the
implementation's per-user clk instance, for backwards compatibility.

The struct clk that clk_get_parent() returns isn't owned by the caller, but by
the clock implementation, so the former shouldn't call clk_put() on it.

Because some boards in mach-omap2 still register clocks statically, their clock
registration had to be updated to take into account that the clock information
is stored in struct clk_core now.

Peter De Schrijver d0a57bd5b5 clk: tegra: make tegra_clocks_apply_init_table() arch_initcall
tegra_clocks_apply_init_table() needs to be called after the udelay
loop has been calibrated (see commit
441f199a37 ("clk: tegra: defer
application of init table") for why that is). On existing Tegra SoCs
this was done by calling tegra_clocks_apply_init_table() from
tegra_dt_init(). To make this also work on ARM64, we need to change
this into an initcall. tegra_dt_init() is called from
customize_machine which is an arch_initcall. Therefore this should
also work on existing 32bit Tegra SoCs.

Tested on Tegra20 (ventana), Tegra30 (beaverboard), Tegra124 (jetson TK1) and
Tegra132.

Sean Paul f892f24b37 clk: tegra124: Add init data for dsi lp clocks
Set the parent of the dsi lp clocks to pll_p and the rate
to 68MHz. The default parent is clk_m and rate is 12MHz, this
is too slow to receive data from the peripheral.

Per NVidia HW engineers, the optimal rate is 70MHz, but 68MHz
will suffice.

Andrew Bresticker 18abd16376 clk: tegra: SDMMC controllers are on APB
Since the SDMMC controller registers are accessed via the APB,
the APB must be flushed before gating the SDMMC clocks to prevent
register accesses to the SDMMC controllers after their clocks are
gated.

Tero Kristo 74807dffcd clk: ti: add omap3 legacy clock data
Introduces omap3 legacy clock data under clock driver. The clock data
is also in new format, which makes it possible to get rid of the
clk-private.h header. This patch also introduces SoC specific init
functions that shall be called from the low level init.

The data format used in this file has two possible evolution paths;
it can either be removed completely once no longer needed, or it will
be possible to retain the format and modify the TI clock driver to be
a loadable module at some point. The actual path to be followed
will be decided later.
