MIPS will soon not be a part of Imagination Technologies, and as such
many @imgtec.com email addresses will no longer be valid. This patch
updates the addresses for those who:
- Have 10 or more patches in mainline authored using an @imgtec.com
email address, or any patches dated within the past year.
- Are still with Imagination but leaving as part of the MIPS business
unit, as determined from an internal email address list.
- Haven't already updated their email address (ie. JamesH) or expressed
a desire to be excluded (ie. Maciej).
- Acked v2 or earlier of this patch, which leaves Deng-Cheng, Matt &
myself.
New addresses are of the form firstname.lastname@mips.com, and all
verified against an internal email address list. An entry is added to
.mailmap for each person such that get_maintainer.pl will report the new
addresses rather than @imgtec.com addresses which will soon be dead.
Instances of the affected addresses throughout the tree are then
mechanically replaced with the new @mips.com address.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

04c81c7293 ("MIPS: PCI: Replace pci_fixup_irqs() call with host bridge
IRQ mapping hooks") moved the PCI IRQ fixup to the new host bridge
map/swizzle_irq() hooks mechanism. Those hooks can also be called after
boot, when all the __init/__initdata/__initconst sections have been freed.
Therefore, functions called by them (and the data they refer to) must not
be marked as __init/__initdata/__initconst lest compilation trigger section
mismatch warnings.
Fix all the board files map_irq() hooks by simply removing the respective
__init/__initdata/__initconst section markers and by adding another
persistent hook IRQ map for the txx9 board files.

Modify the functions we use to read information about the topology of
the system (the number of cores, VPs & IOCUs that it contains) in order
to take into account multiple clusters, and provide a new function to
determine the number of clusters in the system.
Users of these functions are modified only such that they continue to
build successfully - having them actually handle multiple clusters is
left to further patches.

With Coherence Manager (CM) 3.5 information about the topology of the
system, which has previously only been available through & accessed from
the CM, is now also provided by the Cluster Power Controller (CPC). This
includes a new CPC_CONFIG register mirroring GCR_CONFIG, and similarly a
new CPC_Cx_CONFIG register mirroring GCR_Cx_CONFIG.
In preparation for adjusting functions such as mips_cm_numcores(), which
have previously only needed to access the CM, to also access the CPC
this patch modifies the way we use the various CPS headers. Rather than
having users include asm/mips-cm.h or asm/mips-cpc.h individually we
instead have users include asm/mips-cps.h which in turn includes
asm/mips-cm.h & asm/mips-cpc.h. This means that users will gain access
to both CM & CPC registers by including one header, and most importantly
it makes asm/mips-cps.h an ideal location for helper functions which
need to access the various components of the CPS.

Commit a53e35db70 ("reset: Ensure drivers are explicit when requesting
reset lines") started to transition the reset control request API calls
to explicitly state whether the driver needs exclusive or shared reset
control behavior. Convert all drivers requesting exclusive resets to the
explicit API call so the temporary transition helpers can be removed.
No functional changes.

Fix this by using the cpu_*cache_line_size() macros instead. These
macros are the "proper" way to determine the CPU cache sizes.
This makes use of the newly added cpu_tcache_line_size.

The pci_fixup_irqs() function allocates IRQs for all PCI devices present in
a system; those PCI devices possibly belong to different PCI bus trees (and
possibly rooted at different host bridges) and may well be enabled (ie
probed and bound to a driver) by the time pci_fixup_irqs() is called when
probing a given host bridge driver.
Furthermore, current kernel code relying on pci_fixup_irqs() to assign
legacy PCI IRQs to devices does not work at all for hotplugged devices in
that the code carrying out the IRQ fixup is called at host bridge driver
probe time, which just cannot take into account devices hotplugged after
the system has booted.
The introduction of map/swizzle function hooks in struct pci_host_bridge
allows us to define per-bridge map/swizzle functions, that can be used at
device probe time in PCI core code to allocate IRQs for a given device
(through pci_assign_irq()).
Convert PCI host bridge initialization code to the
pci_scan_root_bus_bridge() API (that allows to pass a struct
pci_host_bridge with initialized map/swizzle pointers) and remove the
pci_fixup_irqs() call from arch code.

If pci_scan_root_bus() fails (ie returns NULL) pcibios_scan_bus() must
return immediately since the struct pci_bus pointer it returns is not valid
and cannot be used.
Move code checking the pci_scan_root_bus() return value to reinstate proper
pcibios_scanbus() error path behaviour.

pci_add_resource_offset() is for host bridge windows where the bridge
translates CPU addresses to PCI bus addresses by adding an offset. To my
knowledge, no host bridge translates bus numbers, so this is only useful
for MEM and IO windows. In any event, host->busn_offset is never set to
anything other than zero, so pci_add_resource() is sufficient.
a2e50f53d5 ("MIPS: PCI: Add a hook for IORESOURCE_BUS in
pci_controller/bridge_controller") also added busn_resource itself. This
is currently unused but may be used by future SGI IP27 fixes, so I left it
there.

it was possible to remove the IB DMA mapping code entirely and
switch the RDMA stack to use the core DMA mapping code. This resulted

Some but not all architectures provide set_dma_ops(). Move dma_ops

The coherentio variable has previously been used as a boolean value,
indicating whether the user specified that coherent I/O should be
enabled or disabled. It failed to take into account the case where the
user does not specify any preference, in which case it makes sense that
we should default to coherent I/O if the hardware supports it
(hw_coherentio is non-zero).
Introduce an enum to clarify the 3 different values of coherentio & use
it throughout the code, modifying plat_device_is_coherent() &
r4k_cache_init() to take into account the default case.

Introduce 2 Kconfig symbols, CONFIG_PCI_DRIVERS_GENERIC &
CONFIG_PCI_DRIVERS_LEGACY, which indicate whether the system should be
built to for PCI drivers using the MIPS-specific struct pci_controller
API (hereafter "legacy" drivers) or more generic drivers using only
functionality provided by the PCI core (hereafter "generic" drivers).
The Kconfig entries are created such that platforms have to select
CONFIG_PCI_DRIVERS_GENERIC if they wish to use it - that is, the default
is CONFIG_PCI_DRIVERS_LEGACY so that existing platforms need no
modification.
The functions declared in pci.h are rearranged with those provided only
by pci-legacy.c being guarded by an #ifdef CONFIG_PCI_DRIVERS_LEGACY to
ensure they are only used in configurations where they are implemented.

Split out the parts of pci.c that are used by existing systems with
MIPS-style PCI drivers but that will not be used by systems with more
generic PCI drivers such as pcie-xilinx. This is done in preparation for
allowing configurations where the code moved to pci-legacy.c is not
built.

Introduce support for CONFIG_PCI_DOMAINS_GENERIC, allowing for platforms
to make use of generic PCI domains instead of the MIPS-specific
implementation. The set_pci_need_domain_info function is introduced to
abstract away the removed need_domain_info field in struct
pci_controller, and pcibios_scanbus is adjusted to use the pci_domain_nr
accessor instead of directly accessing the index field.

Historically a lot of these existed because we did not have
a distinction between what was modular code and what was providing
support to modules via EXPORT_SYMBOL and friends. That changed
when we forked out support for the latter into the export.h file.
This means we should be able to reduce the usage of module.h
in code that is obj-y Makefile or bool Kconfig. The advantage
in doing so is that module.h itself sources about 15 other headers;
adding significantly to what we feed cpp, and it can obscure what
headers we are effectively using.
Since module.h was the source for init.h (for __init) and for
export.h (for EXPORT_SYMBOL) we consider each obj-y/bool instance
for the presence of either and replace as needed.
We also needed to remove the no-op MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE usage in
several instances to permit removal of the module.h include. The
files in these instances were all controlled by bool Kconfig.
In one instance, module_param was being used so we transition the
module.h include onto a moduleparam.h include.

We claim PCI BAR and bridge window resources in pci_bus_assign_resources(),
but when PCI_PROBE_ONLY is set, we treat those resources as immutable and
don't call pci_bus_assign_resources(), so the resources aren't put in the
resource tree.
When the resources aren't in the tree, they don't show up in /proc/iomem,
we can't detect conflicts, and we need special cases elsewhere for
PCI_PROBE_ONLY or resources without a parent pointer.
Claim all PCI BAR and window resources in the PCI_PROBE_ONLY case.
If a PCI_PROBE_ONLY platform assigns conflicting resources, Linux can't fix
the conflicts. Previously we didn't notice the conflicts, but now we will,
which may expose new failures.

Replace the pci_resource_to_user() declarations in each arch that defines
HAVE_ARCH_PCI_RESOURCE_TO_USER with a single one in linux/pci.h.
Change the MIPS static inline implementation to a non-inline version so the
static inline doesn't conflict with the new non-static linux/pci.h
declaration.
No functional change intended.

No one of supported MIPS machines has an IOMMU unit, so we can safely define
PCI_DMA_BUS_IS_PHYS = 1. Also remove iommu flag from the pci controller
structure, since it is useless.

Loongson 3 used the IORESOURCE_ROM_COPY flag for its ROM resource. There
are two problems with this:
- When IORESOURCE_ROM_COPY is set, pci_map_rom() assumes the resource
contains virtual addresses, so it doesn't ioremap the resource. This
implies loongson_sysconf.vgabios_addr is a virtual address. That's a
problem because resources should contain CPU *physical* addresses not
virtual addresses.
- When IORESOURCE_ROM_COPY is set, pci_cleanup_rom() calls kfree() on the
resource. We did not kmalloc() the loongson_sysconf.vgabios_addr area,
so it is incorrect to kfree() it.
If we're using a shadow copy in RAM for the Loongson 3 VGA BIOS area,
disable the ROM BAR and release the address space it was consuming.
Use IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW instead of IORESOURCE_ROM_COPY. This means the
struct resource contains CPU physical addresses, and pci_map_rom() will
ioremap() it as needed.

The "a" version of the MT7620 has single port PCIE bus. The driver is
straightforward without any special magic required. The driver works on
MT7620 and MT7628. There are a few magic values that get written to the
pcie phy and a register of which we only know the name. I marked these
places as vodoo in the comments above the code.

GCC 4.1 and newer remove empty loops. This becomes a problem when delay
loops get removed. Fixed by rewriting to user the proper Linux interface
for such delays.

Revert dff22d2054 ("PCI: Call pci_read_bridge_bases() from core instead
of arch code").
Reading PCI bridge windows is not arch-specific in itself, but there is PCI
core code that doesn't work correctly if we read them too early. For
example, Hannes found this case on an ARM Freescale i.mx6 board:

The 00:00.0 mem window needs to be at least 3MB: the 01:00.0 device needs
0x204100 of space, and mem windows are megabyte-aligned.
Bus sizing can increase a bridge window size, but never *decrease* it (see
d65245c329 ("PCI: don't shrink bridge resources")). Prior to
dff22d2054, ARM didn't read bridge windows at all, so the "original size"
was zero, and we assigned a 3MB window.
After dff22d2054, we read the bridge windows before sizing the bus. The
firmware programmed a 16MB window (size 0x01000000) in 00:00.0, and since
we never decrease the size, we kept 16MB even though we only needed 3MB.
But 16MB doesn't fit in the host bridge aperture, so we failed to assign
space for the window and the downstream devices.
I think this is a defect in the PCI core: we shouldn't rely on the firmware
to assign sensible windows.
Ray reported a similar problem, also on ARM, with Broadcom iProc.
Issues like this are too hard to fix right now, so revert dff22d2054.

Update mips/netlogic/common/irq.c and mips/pci/msi-xlp.c to use chip_data
to store interrupt controller data pointer. It uses handler_data now,
and that causes errors when an API (like the GPIO subsystem) tries to

Currently CONFIG_ARCH_HAVE_CUSTOM_GPIO_H is defined for all MIPS
machines, and each machine type provides its own gpio.h. However
only a handful really implement the GPIO API, most just forward
everythings to gpiolib.
The Alchemy machine is notable as it provides a system to allow
implementing the GPIO API at the board level. But it is not used by
any board currently supported, so it can also be removed.
For most machine types we can just remove the custom gpio.h, as well
as the custom wrappers if some exists. Some of the code found in
the wrappers must be moved to the respective GPIO driver.
A few more fixes are need in some drivers as they rely on linux/gpio.h
to provides some machine specific definitions, or used asm/gpio.h
instead of linux/gpio.h for the gpio API.

The db_assert call checks whether the bus_num pointer is non-NULL, but
does so after said pointer has been dereferenced by the assignment on
the previous line. Thus the check is pointless & likely to have been
optimised out by the compiler anyway. The check_args function is static
& only ever called from the local file with bus_num being a pointer to
an on-stack variable, so the check seems somewhat overzealous anyway.
Simply remove it.

Chained irq handlers usually set up handler data as well. We now have
a function to set both under irq_desc->lock. Replace the two calls
with one.
Search and conversion was done with coccinelle.

When we scan a PCI bus, we read PCI-PCI bridge window registers with
pci_read_bridge_bases() so we can validate the resource hierarchy. Most
architectures call pci_read_bridge_bases() from pcibios_fixup_bus(), but
PCI-PCI bridges are not arch-specific, so this doesn't need to be in
arch-specific code.
Call pci_read_bridge_bases() directly from the PCI core instead of from
arch code.
For alpha and mips, we now call pci_read_bridge_bases() always; previously
we only called it if PCI_PROBE_ONLY was set.

The DDR controller need to be used by the IRQ controller to flush
the write buffer of some devices before running the IRQ handler.
It is also used by the PCI controller to setup the PCI memory windows.
The current interface used to access the DDR controller doesn't
provides any useful abstraction and simply rely on a shared global
pointer.
Replace this by a simple API to setup the PCI memory windows and use
the write buffer flush independently of the SoC type. That remove the
need for the shared global pointer, simplify the IRQ handler code.

udelay() in PCI/PCIe read/write callbacks cause 30ms IRQ latency on Octeon
platforms because these operations are called from PCI_OP_READ() and

On SGI Origin 2k/Onyx2 and SGI Octane systems, there can exist multiple PCI
buses attached to the Xtalk bus. The current code will stop counting PCI buses
after it finds the first one. If one installs the optional PCI cardcage
("shoebox") into these systems, because of the order of the Xtalk widgets, the
current PCI code will find the cardcage first, and fail to detect the BaseIO
PCI devices, which are on a higher Xtalk widget ID.
This patch adds the hooks needed for resolving this issue in the IP27 PCI code
(in a later patch).
Verified on both an SGI Onyx2 and an SGI Octane.

The per-cpu interrupt ACK using EIRR has to be done just once after
all the bits in the status register are processed.
PIC ack has to be done once in case of MSI, and for every interrupt
in case of MSI-X

Previously, pci_scan_root_bus() created a root PCI bus, enumerated the
devices on it, and called pci_bus_add_devices(), which made the devices
available for drivers to claim them.
Most callers assigned resources to devices after pci_scan_root_bus()
returns, which may be after drivers have claimed the devices. This is
incorrect; the PCI core should not change device resources while a driver
is managing the device.
Remove pci_bus_add_devices() from pci_scan_root_bus() and do it after any
resource assignment in the callers.
Note that ARM's pci_common_init_dev() already called pci_bus_add_devices()
after pci_scan_root_bus(), so we only need to remove the first call:

Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.
They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes, just
removing a line in a structure.
Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.
Everything has been in linux-next for a while.

- Support for hierarchical irq domains:
For complex interrupt routing scenarios where more than one
interrupt related chip is involved we had no proper representation
in the generic interrupt infrastructure so far. That made people
implement rather ugly constructs in their nested irq chip
implementations. The main offenders are x86 and arm/gic.
To distangle that mess we have now hierarchical irqdomains which
seperate the various interrupt chips and connect them via the
hierarchical domains. That keeps the domain specific details
internal to the particular hierarchy level and removes the
criss/cross referencing of chip internals. The resulting hierarchy
for a complex x86 system will look like this:

Neither ioapic nor pci-msi know about the dmar interrupt remapping
between themself and the vector domain. If interrupt remapping is
disabled ioapic and pci-msi become direct childs of the vector
domain.
In hindsight we should have done that years ago, but in hindsight
we always know better :)
- Support for generic MSI interrupt domain handling
We have more and more non PCI related MSI interrupts, so providing
a generic infrastructure for this is better than having all
affected architectures implementing their own private hacks.
- Support for PCI-MSI interrupt domain handling, based on the generic
MSI support.
This part carries the pci/msi branch from Bjorn Helgaas pci tree to
avoid a massive conflict. The PCI/MSI parts are acked by Bjorn.

Caller (generic PCI code) already do proper locking so no need to add
another one here. Local PCI read/write functions are never called
simultaneously, also they do not require synchronization with the PCI
controller ops, since they are used before the controller registration.

The PCI/MSI irq chip callbacks mask/unmask_msi_irq have been renamed
to pci_msi_mask/unmask_irq to mark them PCI specific. Rename all usage
sites. The conversion helper functions are kept around to avoid
conflicts in next and will be removed after merging into mainline.
Coccinelle assisted conversion. No functional change.
