The "aclk66_peric" clock is a gate clock with a whole bunch of gates
underneath it. This big gate isn't very useful to include in our
clock tree. If any of the children need to be turned on then the big
gate will need to be on anyway. ...and there are plenty of other "big
gates" that aren't described in our clock tree, some of which shut off
collections of clocks that have no relationship in the hierarchy so
are hard to model.
"aclk66_peric" is causing earlyprintk problems since it gets disabled
as part of the boot process, so let's just remove it.
Strangely (and for no good reason) this clock is exported as part of
the common clock bindings. Remove it since there are no in-kernel
device trees using it and no reason anyone out of tree should refer to
it either.

blkdev_read_iter() wants to cap the iov_iter by the amount of data
remaining to the end of device. That's what iov_iter_truncate() is for
(trim iter->count if it's above the given limit). So far, so good, but
the argument of iov_iter_truncate() is size_t, so on 32bit boxen (in
case of a large device) we end up with that upper limit truncated down
to 32 bits *before* comparing it with iter->count.
Easily fixed by making iov_iter_truncate() take 64bit argument - it does
the right thing after such change (we only reach the assignment in there
when the current value of iter->count is greater than the limit, i.e.
for anything that would get truncated we don't reach the assignment at
all) and that argument is not the new value of iter->count - it's an
upper limit for such.
The overhead of passing u64 is not an issue - the thing is inlined, so
callers passing size_t won't pay any penalty.

When IP route cache had been removed in linux-3.6, we broke assumption
that dst entries were all freed after rcu grace period. DST_NOCACHE
dst were supposed to be freed from dst_release(). But it appears
we want to keep such dst around, either in UDP sockets or tunnels.
In sk_dst_get() we need to make sure dst refcount is not 0
before incrementing it, or else we might end up freeing a dst
twice.
DST_NOCACHE set on a dst does not mean this dst can not be attached
to a socket or a tunnel.
Then, before actual freeing, we need to observe a rcu grace period
to make sure all other cpus can catch the fact the dst is no longer
usable.

race condition that happens between enabling/disabling syscall tracepoints
and new process creations (the check to go into the ptrace path for a process
can be set when it shouldn't, or not set when it should). Not a major bug
but one that should be fixed and even applied to stable.
The other two patches are cleanup/fixes that are not that critical, but
for an -rc1 release would be nice to have. They both deal with syscall
tracepoints.
It also includes a patch to introduce a new macro for the TRACE_EVENT()
format called __field_struct(). Originally, __field() was used to record
any variable into a trace event, but with the addition of setting the
"is signed" attribute, the check causes anything but a primitive variable
to fail to compile. That is, structs and unions can't be used as they
once were. When the "is signed" check was introduce there were only
primitive variables being recorded. But that will change soon and it
was reported that __field() causes build failures.
To solve the __field() issue, __field_struct() is introduced to allow
trace_events to be able to record complex types too.

Another restriction inherited for NVMe - those devices don't support

A 'softlockup' is defined as a bug that causes the kernel to loop in
kernel mode for more than a predefined period to time, without giving
other tasks a chance to run.
Currently, upon detection of this condition by the per-cpu watchdog
task, debug information (including a stack trace) is sent to the system
log.
On some occasions, we have observed that the "victim" rather than the
actual "culprit" (i.e. the owner/holder of the contended resource) is
reported to the user. Often this information has proven to be
insufficient to assist debugging efforts.
To avoid loss of useful debug information, for architectures which
support NMI, this patch makes it possible to improve soft lockup
reporting. This is accomplished by issuing an NMI to each cpu to obtain
a stack trace.
If NMI is not supported we just revert back to the old method. A sysctl
and boot-time parameter is available to toggle this feature.

Sometimes it is preferred not to use the trigger_all_cpu_backtrace()
routine when one wants to avoid capturing a back trace for current. For
instance if one was previously captured recently.
This patch provides a new routine namely
trigger_allbutself_cpu_backtrace() which offers the flexibility to issue
an NMI to every cpu but current and capture a back trace accordingly.
Patch x86 and sparc to support new routine.

To allow filtering of huge pages, makedumpfile must be able to identify
them in the dump. This can be done by checking the appropriate page
flag, so communicate its value to makedumpfile through the VMCOREINFO
interface.
There's only one small catch. Depending on how many page flags are
available on a given architecture, this bit can be called PG_head or
PG_compound.
I sent a similar patch back in 2012, but Eric Biederman did not like
using an #ifdef. So, this time I'm adding a common symbol
(PG_head_mask) instead.

Commit ac1bea8578 (Make cond_resched() report RCU quiescent states)
fixed a problem where a CPU looping in the kernel with but one runnable
task would give RCU CPU stall warnings, even if the in-kernel loop
contained cond_resched() calls. Unfortunately, in so doing, it introduced
performance regressions in Anton Blanchard's will-it-scale "open1" test.
The problem appears to be not so much the increased cond_resched() path
length as an increase in the rate at which grace periods complete, which
increased per-update grace-period overhead.
This commit takes a different approach to fixing this bug, mainly by
moving the RCU-visible quiescent state from cond_resched() to
rcu_note_context_switch(), and by further reducing the check to a
simple non-zero test of a single per-CPU variable. However, this
approach requires that the force-quiescent-state processing send
resched IPIs to the offending CPUs. These will be sent only once
the grace period has reached an age specified by the boot/sysfs
parameter rcutree.jiffies_till_sched_qs, or once the grace period
reaches an age halfway to the point at which RCU CPU stall warnings
will be emitted, whichever comes first.

Currently, call_rcu() relies on implicit allocation and initialization
for the debug-objects handling of RCU callbacks. If you hammer the
kernel hard enough with Sasha's modified version of trinity, you can end
up with the sl*b allocators recursing into themselves via this implicit
call_rcu() allocation.
This commit therefore exports the debug_init_rcu_head() and
debug_rcu_head_free() functions, which permits the allocators to allocated
and pre-initialize the debug-objects information, so that there no longer
any need for call_rcu() to do that initialization, which in turn prevents
the recursion into the memory allocators.

Currently the __field() macro in TRACE_EVENT is only good for primitive
values, such as integers and pointers, but it fails on complex data types
such as structures or unions. This is because the __field() macro
determines if the variable is signed or not with the test of:
(((type)(-1)) < (type)1)
Unfortunately, that fails when type is a structure.
Since trace events should support structures as fields a new macro
is created for such a case called __field_struct() which acts exactly
the same as __field() does but it does not do the signed type check
and just uses a constant false for that answer.

Pull block fixes from Jens Axboe:
"A smaller collection of fixes for the block core that would be nice to
have in -rc2. This pull request contains:
- Fixes for races in the wait/wakeup logic used in blk-mq from
Alexander. No issues have been observed, but it is definitely a
bit flakey currently. Alternatively, we may drop the cyclic
wakeups going forward, but that needs more testing.
- Some cleanups from Christoph.
- Fix for an oops in null_blk if queue_mode=1 and softirq completions
are used. From me.
- A fix for a regression caused by the chunk size setting. It
inadvertently used max_hw_sectors instead of max_sectors, which is
incorrect, and causes hangs on btrfs multi-disk setups (where hw
sectors apparently isn't set). From me.
- Removal of WQ_POWER_EFFICIENT in the kblockd creation. This was a
recent addition as well, but it actually breaks blk-mq which relies
on strict scheduling. If the workqueue power_efficient mode is
turned on, this breaks blk-mq. From Matias.
- null_blk module parameter description fix from Mike"

Commit [ac8dde11: “usb: gadget: f_fs: Add flags to descriptors block”]
which introduced a new descriptor format for FunctionFS removed the
usb_functionfs_descs_head structure, which is still used by ffs-test.
tool.
Convert ffs-test by converting it to use the new header format. For
testing kernels prior to 3.14 (when the new format was introduced) and
parsing of the legacy headers in the new kernels, provide a compilation
flag to make the tool use the old format.
Finally, include information as to when the legacy FunctionFS headers
format has been deprecated (which is also when the new one has been
introduced).

The user-control put and get handlers as well as the tlv do not protect against
concurrent access from multiple threads. Since the state of the control is not
updated atomically it is possible that either two write operations or a write
and a read operation race against each other. Both can lead to arbitrary memory
disclosure. This patch introduces a new lock that protects user-controls from
concurrent access. Since applications typically access controls sequentially
than in parallel a single lock per card should be fine.

This patch fixes two problems: -
1) The device tree isn't currently providing sti-ethclk which is
required by the dwmac glue code to correctly configure the ethernet
PHY clock speed.
This means depending on what the bootloader/jtag has
configured this clock to, and what switch/hub the board is plugged
into you most likely will NOT successfully negotiate a ethernet link.
2) The stmmaceth clock was associated with the wrong clock. It was
referencing the PHY clock rather than the interconnect clock which
clocks the IP.
This patch also brings us closer to not having to boot the upstream
kernel with the clk_ignore_unused parameter.

When a machine is booted with nomodeset option, i915 driver skips the
whole initialization. Meanwhile, HD-audio tries to bind wth i915 just
by request_symbol() without knowing that the initialization was
skipped, and eventually it hits WARN_ON() in i915_request_power_well()
and i915_release_power_well() wrongly but still continues probing,
even though it doesn't work at all.
In this patch, both functions are changed to return an error in case
of uninitialized state instead of WARN_ON(), so that HD-audio driver
can give up HDMI controller initialization at the right time.

There is a potential dead lock if a cpu event occurs during nvme probe
since it registered with hot cpu notification. This fixes the race by
having the module register with notification outside of probe rather
than have each device register.
The actual work is done in a scheduled work queue instead of in the
notifier since assigning IO queues has the potential to block if the
driver creates additional queues.

Cancel the optimization of compiler for struct snd_compr_avail

The DRR scheduler requires that items on the active list are work
conserving, i.e. do not hold on to skbs for throttling purposes, etc.
Attaching e.g. tbf renders DRR useless because all other classes on the
active list are delayed as well.
So, warn users that this configuration won't work as expected; we
already do this in couple of other qdiscs, see e.g.
commit b00355db3f

In skb_checksum complete, if we need to compute the checksum for the
packet (via skb_checksum) save the result as CHECKSUM_COMPLETE.
Subsequent checksum verification can use this.
Also, added csum_complete_sw flag to distinguish between software and
hardware generated checksum complete, we should always be able to trust
the software computation.

Currently when the first checksum in a packet is validated using
CHECKSUM_COMPLETE, ip_summed is overwritten to be CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY
so that any subsequent checksums in the packet are not correctly
validated.
This patch adds csum_valid flag in sk_buff and uses that to indicate
validated checksum instead of setting CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY. The bit
is set accordingly in the skb_checksum_validate_* functions. The flag
is checked in skb_checksum_complete, so that validation is communicated
between checksum_init and checksum_complete sequence in TCP and UDP.

net/ipv4/ip_vti.c:447:24: expected restricted __be16 [usertype] i_flags

immediately followed by an skb_clone.
Add a couple of new functions to allow the copy skb to be allocated
from the fclone cache and thus speed up subsequent skb_clone calls.

The majority of these changes are cleanups and fixes across all drivers.
Redundant error messages are removed and more PWM controllers set the
.can_sleep flag to signal that they can't be used in atomic context.
Support is added for the Broadcom Kona family of SoCs and the Intel LPSS
driver can now probe PCI devices in addition to ACPI devices. Upon shut-
down, the pwm-backlight driver will now power off the backlight. It also
uses the new descriptor-based GPIO API for more concise GPIO handling.
A large chunk of these changes also converts platforms to use the lookup
mechanism rather than relying on the global number space to reference
PWM devices. This is largely in preparation for more unification and
cleanups in future patches. Eventually it will allow the legacy PWM API
to be removed.
