Rename the driver and all relevant identifiers from Rockchip to Hantro,
as other Hantro IP based VPU implementations can be supported by the
same driver.
The RK3288 decoder is Hantro G1 based, the encoder is Hantro H1.

Amlogic SoCs feature a powerful video decoder unit able to
decode many formats, with a performance of usually up to 4k60.
This is a driver for this IP that is based around the v4l2 m2m framework.
It features decoding for:
- MPEG 1
- MPEG 2
Supported SoCs are: GXBB (S905), GXL (S905X/W/D), GXM (S912)
There is also a hardware bitstream parser (ESPARSER) that is handled here.

Add a V4L2 mem-to-mem driver for Allegro DVT video IP cores as found in
the EV family of the Xilinx ZynqMP SoC. The Zynq UltraScale+ Device
Technical Reference Manual uses the term VCU (Video Codec Unit) for the
encoder, decoder and system integration block.
This driver takes care of interacting with the MicroBlaze MCU that
controls the actual IP cores. The IP cores and MCU are integrated in the
FPGA. The xlnx_vcu driver is responsible for configuring the clocks and
providing information about the codec configuration.
The driver currently only supports the H.264 video encoder.

This introduces the Cedrus VPU driver that supports the VPU found in
Allwinner SoCs, also known as Video Engine. It is implemented through
a V4L2 M2M decoder device and a media device (used for media requests).
So far, it only supports MPEG-2 decoding.
Since this VPU is stateless, synchronization with media requests is
required in order to ensure consistency between frame headers that
contain metadata about the frame to process and the raw slice data that
is used to generate the frame.
This driver was made possible thanks to the long-standing effort
carried out by the linux-sunxi community in the interest of reverse
engineering, documenting and implementing support for the Allwinner VPU.

According to the TODO file, this driver only landed in staging because of
the way device nodes and data transfers are handled. Besides that this way
(use of secX devices) has become sort of standard to date (ie. VDR
supports this literally since ages via the ddci plugin, TVHeadend received
this functionality lately, and minisatip being currently worked on
regarding this), most importantly this I2C client only driver isn't even
responsible for setting up device nodes, not for handling data
transfer and so on, but only serves as interface for the dvb_ca_en50221
subsystem, just like every other DVB card out in the wild, with hard-wired
or such flexible CA interfaces. And, it would even work with cards having
the cxd2099 controller hard-wired.
Also, this driver received quite some love and even is a proper I2C client
driver by now. So, as this driver acts as a EN50221 frontend device, move
it to dvb-frontends. There is no need to keep it buried in staging.
This commit also updates all affected Kconfig and Makefile's, and adds
MEDIA_AUTOSELECT depends to ddbridge and ngene.

Polling is disabled during IR transmission through the mutex.

Here is the big staging tree update for 4.12-rc1. And it's a big one,
adding about 350k new lines of crap^Wcode, mostly all in a big dump of

well, yet-another-wifi driver, new IIO drivers, and a new crypto

cleanups, but also the Android ION code has shrunk a lot, and the

This patch adds support for the Intel IPU v2 as found on Android and IoT
Baytrail-T and Baytrail-CR platforms (those with the IPU PCI mapped). You
will also need the firmware files from your device (Android usually puts
them into /etc) - or you can find them in the downloadable restore/upgrade
kits if you blew them away for some reason.
It may be possible to extend the driver to handle the BYT/T windows
platforms such as the ASUS T100TA. These platforms don't expose the IPU via
the PCI interface but via ACPI buried in the GPU description and with the
camera information somewhere unknown so would need a platform driver
interface adding to the codebase *IFF* the firmware works on such devices.
To get good results you also need a suitable support library such as
libxcam. The camera is intended to be driven from Android so it has a lot of
features that many desktop apps don't fully spport.
In theory all the pieces are there to build it with -DISP2401 and some
differing files to get CherryTrail/T support, but unifying the drivers
properlly is a work in progress.
The IPU driver represents the work of a lot of people within Intel over many
years. It's historical goal was portability rather than Linux upstream. Any
queries about the upstream aimed driver should be sent to me not to the
original authors.

staging media drivers tend to have a build time dependency on the
media support. In particular, the newly added pulse8 cec driver can
only be a loadable module if MEDIA_SUPPORT=m, but its build dependency
is on a 'bool' symbol (MEDIA_CEC), so a randconfig build can fail
with pulse8_cec built-in:
drivers/staging/built-in.o: In function `pulse8_disconnect':

Originally, MEDIA_CEC itself was a tristate symbol, which would have
prevented this, but since 5bb2399a4f ("[media] cec: fix Kconfig
dependency problems"), it doesn't work like that any more.
This encloses all of the staging media drivers in a CONFIG_MEDIA_SUPPORT
dependency in Kconfig, which solves the problem by enforcing that none

The Timberdale FPGA video driver has not seen any real development
since 2011 (and very little before that).
One of the problems with the timblogiw driver is that it uses videobuf
instead of the newer vb2 framework. The long term goal is to either
convert or remove any driver still using videobuf. Since none of the
core v4l developers has the hardware, we cannot convert it ourselves.
As far as I can tell it was only used in an Intel demo board in 2009
using Meego:

which has since been superseded.
Moving this driver to staging is the first step towards removal. After 2 or
3 kernel cycles it will be removed altogether unless someone steps up to
clean up this driver.

The dt3155 code is now in good shape, so move it out of staging into
drivers/media/pci. Mark in MAINTAINERS that I'll do Odd Fixes for this
driver.

These drivers haven't been tested in a long, long time. The hardware is
ancient and hopelessly obsolete. These drivers also need to be converted
to newer media frameworks but due to the lack of hardware that's going
to be impossible. In addition, cheaper and vastly better hardware is
available today.
These drivers are already deprecated, so now remove them altogether.

So these drivers are a prime candidate for removal. If someone is
interested in working on these drivers to prevent their removal, then
please contact the linux-media mailinglist.
