Currently, block device pages don't provide a ->migratepage callback and thus fallback_migrate_page() is used for them. This handler cannot deal with dirty pages in async mode and also with the case a buffer head is in the LRU buffer head cache (as it has elevated b_count). Thus such page can block memory offlining. Fix the problem by using buffer_migrate_page_norefs() for migrating block device pages. That function takes care of dropping bh LRU in case migration would fail due to elevated buffer refcount to avoid stalls and can also migrate dirty pages without writing them. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
