apq8016-sbc board is using Dual SPDT USB Switch (TC7USB40MU),
witch is controlled by GPIO to de/multiplex D+/D- USB lines to

Since 39b2bbe3d7 (gpio: add flags argument to gpiod_get*() functions)
which appeared in v3.17-rc1, the gpiod_get* functions take an additional
parameter that allows to specify direction and initial value for output.
Currently this parameter is made optional with the help of a cpp trick.
To allow dropping this hack convert callers to explictly pass a value
for flags.

Triggering suspend to RAM via sysfs on a i.MX28 causes a NULL pointer
dereference. This patch avoids the oops in mxs_phy_get_vbus_status()
by aborting since there is no syscon available.

This patch just redefine the unique id of supported external connectors without
'enum extcon' type. Because unique id would be used on devictree file(*.dts) to
indicate the specific external connectors like key number of input framework.
So, I have the plan to move this definitions to following header file which

Split the "get phy from device_node" functionality out of
"get phy by phandle" so it can be used directly.
This is useful when a battery-charger is intimately associated with a
particular phy but handled by a separate driver. The charger
can find the device_node based on sibling relationships
without the need for a redundant declaration in the devicetree
description.
As a peripheral that gets a phy will often want to register a
notifier block, and de-register it later, that functionality
is included so the de-registration is automatic.

threaded IRQs without a primary handler need to be requested with
IRQF_ONESHOT, otherwise the request will fail.
So pass the IRQF_ONESHOT flag in this case.

of string name. The string name have the many potential issues. So, this patch

The GPIO subsystem provides dummy GPIO consumer functions if GPIOLIB is
not enabled. Hence drivers that depend on GPIOLIB, but use GPIO consumer
functionality only, can still be compiled if GPIOLIB is not enabled.
Relax the dependency on GPIOLIB if COMPILE_TEST is enabled, where
appropriate.

VBUS is not routed to USB PHY on recent Qualcomm platforms. USB controller
must see VBUS in order to pull-up DP when setting RS bit. Henc configure
USB PHY and LINK registers sense VBUS and enable manual pullup on D+ line.

The isp1301-omap driver contains special hooks for the TPS65010
power management controller. It provides its own 'tps65010_set_vbus_draw'
wrapper in case that driver is not enabled through Kconfig, but
fails to handle the case where isp1301-omap is built-in but TPS65010
is a loadable module, which currently results in a link error:

This is a workaround to use the same trick as before also when
tps65010 is a module. Doing a proper fix would require much larger
changes to the driver that is not really worth it when the usb-phy

Commit 9eb0797722 ("usb: phy: generic: fix the gpios to be optional")
calls gpiod_direction_output() in the probe function, so there is no need to
call it again, as we can simply call gpiod_set_value() directly.
Also, in usb_gen_phy_shutdown() we can simply put the GPIO directly in its
active level state and this allows us to simplify the nop_reset function to
treat only the reset case.

This hang happens because the reset GPIO stays at logic level 0.
The USB PHY reset gpio is defined in the dts file as:

, which means it is active low, so what the gpio reset pin needs to do in this
case is the following:
- Go to logic level 0 to reset the USB PHY
- Stay at 0 for a bit
- Go back to logic level 1
When switching to gpiod API we need to following according to
Documentation/gpio/consumer.txt:

Declare the interrupt as "one shot" so that it is masked until the end
of the threaded handler. This prevents the irq core from spitting out an

There is a request from IC engineer that if we doesn't

At very rare cases, the SoF will not send out after resume with

For non-otg mode, we keep the usage of disconnect line between phy analog
and digital unchanging; for otg mode, at peripheral role, we keep the usage
unchanging too, at host role, the digital part needs to know dp/dm change
to respond device's data pulse when it is at low power mode.

In practice failure to find phy when requested in non-OF
case means it will never become available, so
__usb_find_phy() must return -ENODEV and not -EPROBE_DEFER.
This fixes a regression caused by commit 9c9d82492b
(usb: phy: Fix deferred probing), where the USB
controller driver is left infinitely into deferred probe
when there are no phys.

Change internal gpio handling from integer gpios into gpio
descriptors. This change only addresses the internal API and
device-tree/ACPI, while the legacy platform data remains integer space
based.
This change is only build compile tested, and very prone to error. I
leave this comment for now in the commit message so that this patch gets
some testing as I'm pretty sure it's buggy.

For some user cases, like plug out and replug in usb device during
the system suspend, the speed negotiation will be error due to host
doesn't know the device's disconnection, and it still hopes the
high speed device, but the device backs to "powered" state which
its high speed termination is not enabled, the usb core calls
the PHY's disconnect notifier with "full speed", it will NOT
take effect at all.
If the usb core calls disconnect notifer, the port change must happen,
so it is safe to disable high speed disconenct detector, since
connect notifier will be called soon if the device is still connected
on the port, and we will enable high speed disconnect detector at that
time.

Commit 1290a958d4 ("usb: phy: propagate __of_usb_find_phy()'s error on
failure") actually broke the deferred probing mechanism, since it now returns
EPROBE_DEFER only when the try_module_get call fails, but not when the phy
lookup does.
All the other similar functions seem to return ENODEV when try_module_get
fails, and the error code of either __usb_find_phy or __of_usb_find_phy
otherwise.
In order to have a consistent behaviour, and a meaningful EPROBE_DEFER, always
return EPROBE_DEFER when __(of_)usb_find_phy fails to look up the requested
phy, that will be propagated by the caller, and ENODEV if try_module_get fails.

Commit 1290a958d4 ("usb: phy: propagate __of_usb_find_phy()'s error on
failure") broke platforms that rely on deferred probing to order probing
of PHY and host controller drivers. The reason is that the commit simply
propagates errors from __of_usb_find_phy(), which returns -ENODEV if no
PHY has been registered yet for a given device tree node. The only case
in which -EPROBE_DEFER would now be returned is if try_module_get() did
fail, which does not make sense.
The correct thing to do is to return -EPROBE_DEFER if a PHY hasn't been
registered yet. The only condition under which it makes sense to return
-ENODEV is if the device tree node representing the PHY has been
disabled (via the status property) because in that case the PHY will
never be registered.
This patch addresses the problem by making __of_usb_find_phy() return an
appropriate error code while keeping in line with the above-mentioned
commit to propagate error codes rather than overwriting them. At the
same time the check for a valid PHY is decoupled from the check for the
try_module_get() call and a separate error code is returned if the
latter fails.

When __of_usb_find_phy() fails, it returns -ENODEV - its
error code has to be returned by devm_usb_get_phy_by_phandle().
Only when the former function succeeds and try_module_get()
fails should -EPROBE_DEFER be returned.

commit e47d925 (usb: move the OTG state from
the USB PHY to the OTG structure) moved the
OTG state from struct usb_phy to struct usb_otg.
Unfortunately, even though I fixed quite a few
build regressions with that patch already, this
one was still missing.
Note that this driver still has other randconfig
build problems which I'll leave for driver author
to fix, as that's less trivial.

This patch prepares the introduction of the generic PHY support in the
USB OTG common functions. The USB PHY member of the OTG structure is
renamed to 'usb_phy' and modifications are done in all drivers accessing
it. Renaming this pointer will allow to keep the compatibility for USB
PHY drivers.

Before using the PHY framework instead of the USB PHY one, we need to
move the OTG state into another place, since it won't be available when
USB PHY isn't used. This patch moves the OTG state into the OTG
structure, and makes all the needed modifications in the drivers
using the OTG state.

The PHY configuration is stored in an opaque "config" field, but when
allocating the structure, its proper size needs to be known. In the case
of UTMI, the proper structure is tegra_utmip_config of which a local
variable already exists, so we can use that to obtain the size from.

This patch makes the phy reset clk and reset line optional as this clk
is not available on boards like IFC6410 with APQ8064.
phy-reset clk is only used as argument to the mach level callbacks, so
this patch adds condition before clk_get calls so that the driver
wouldn't fail on SOCs which do not have this support.

This adds support for the USB PHY in Vybrid VF610. We assume that
the disconnection without VBUS is also needed for Vybrid.
Tests showed, without MXS_PHY_NEED_IP_FIX, enumeration of devices
behind a USB Hub fails with errors:

In case of error, the function devm_ioremap_nocache() returns NULL

tegra_usb_phy_close() is supposed to undo the effects of
tegra_usb_phy_init(). It is also currently added as the USB PHY shutdown
callback, which is wrong, since tegra_usb_phy_init() is only called
during probing wheras the shutdown callback can get called multiple
times. This then leads to warnings about unbalanced regulator_disable if
the EHCI driver is unbound and bound again at runtime.

Use case is when the phy is configured in host mode and a usb device is
attached to board before bootup. On bootup, with the existing code and
runtime pm enabled, the driver would decrement the pm usage count
without checking the current state of the phy. This pm usage count
decrement would trigger the runtime pm which than would abort the
usb enumeration which was in progress. In my case a usb stick gets
detected and then immediatly the driver goes to low power mode which is
not correct.

This issue was detected on IFC6410 board.
This patch fixes the intial runtime pm trigger by checking the phy

The various devm_ functions allocate memory that is released when a
driver detaches. This patch uses devm_kzalloc, devm_request_irq,
devm_gpio_request, devm_regulator_get etc. for data that is
allocated in the probe function of a platform device and is only
freed in the remove function. The corresponding free functions are
removed and the labels are done away with.

Here is the big USB driver pull request for 3.16-rc1.
Nothing huge here, but lots of little things in the USB core, and in
lots of drivers. Hopefully the USB power management will be work better
now that it has been reworked to do per-port power control dynamically.
There's also a raft of gadget driver updates and fixes, CONFIG_USB_DEBUG
is finally gone now that everything has been converted over to the
dynamic debug inteface, the last hold-out drivers were cleaned up and
the config option removed. There were also other minor things all
through the drivers/usb/ tree, the shortlog shows this pretty well.
All have been in linux-next, including the very last patch, which came
from linux-next to fix a build issue on some platforms.

My previous patch introduced a bug which prevented this driver from
loading. devm_ioremap_resource() has a call to
devm_request_mem_region() which will fail because the address space is
shared between this PHY driver and CI device controller driver.

apparently required that checks for CONFIG_USB_GADGET_OMAP would be
replaced with checks for CONFIG_USB_OMAP. Do so now for the remaining
checks for CONFIG_USB_GADGET_OMAP, even though these checks have
basically been broken since v3.1.
And, since we're touching this code, use the IS_ENABLED() macro, so
things will now (hopefully) also work if USB_OMAP is modular.

There are several issues here:
1) platform_get_resource() can return NULL and that wasn't handled.
2) We should request the memory before we remap it, and
devm_ioremap_resource() does that.
3) devm_ioremap() returns a NULL but we were checking for IS_ERR().

New platform uses RBCPR hardware feature, with that voting for
absolute voltage of VDD CX is not required. Hence vote for corner of
VDD CX which uses nominal corner voltage on VDD CX.

Select the secondary PHY using the TCSR register, if phy-num=1
in the DTS (or phy_number is set in the platform data). The
SOC has 2 PHYs which can be used with the OTG port, and this
code allows configuring the correct one.
Note: This resolves the problem I was seeing where I couldn't
get the USB driver working at all on a dragonboard, from cold
boot. This patch depends on patch 5/14 from Ivan's msm USB
patch set. It does not use DT for the register address, as
there's no evidence that this address changes between SoC
versions.

Fix the value used for Parallel Transceiver Select (PTS) for the MSM USB
controller. This is a standard chipidea PORTSC definition, where
a PHY_TYPE of 10b (<<30) is ULPI and 11b (<<30) is SERIAL.
Fix the definitions and use them correctly in the driver code.

On few legacy platforms, USB PHY is having dedicated reset clk.
It is used to reset USB PHY after putting USB PHY into low power
mode and for calibration of USB PHY. Putting USB PHY into low
power mode is causing ulpi read/write timeout as expected. USB PHY
reset clk is not available on newer platform.
For 28nm PHY, reset USB PHY after resetting USB LINK.
Also reset USB PHY using USB_PHY_PON bit with USB_OTG_HS_PHY_CTRL
register after programming USB PHY Override registers as suggested
with hardware programming guidelines.

Allow support to use 2nd HSPHY with USB2 Core.
Some platforms may have configuration to allow USB controller
work with any of the two HSPHYs present. By default driver
configures USB core to use primary HSPHY. Add support to allow
user select 2nd HSPHY using DT parameter.

The usb phy driver for mv_u3d got added in v3.7 through commit
a67e76ac90 ("usb: phy: mv_u3d: Add usb phy driver for mv_u3d"). It
then depended on USB_MV_U3D. And that symbol depended
on CPU_MMP3 at that time. But CPU_MMP3 has never been part of the tree.
This means that this drive was unbuildable when it was added.
In commit 60630c2eab ("usb: gadget: mv_u3d: drop ARCH dependency")
MV_U3D_PHY was made depended directly on CPU_MMP3. That kept it
unbuildable, of course.
Remove this driver. It can be re-added once its dependencies are part of
the tree.

Tests have shown that when a power-up transition is followed by other

We need this to keep PHY's power on or off during the system
suspend mode. If we need to enable USB wakeup, then we
must keep PHY's power being on during the system suspend mode.

When we need the PHY can be waken up by external signals,
we can call this API. Besides, we call mxs_phy_disconnect_line
at this API to close the connection between USB PHY and
controller, after that, the line state from controller is SE0.
Once the PHY is out of power, without calling mxs_phy_disconnect_line,
there are unknown wakeups due to dp/dm floating at device mode.

Two PHY bugs are fixed by IC logic, but these bits are not
enabled by default, so we enable them at driver.
The two bugs are: MXS_PHY_ABNORMAL_IN_SUSPEND and MXS_PHY_SENDING_SOF_TOO_FAST
which are described at code.

The auto setting is used to open related power and clocks
automatically after receiving wakeup signal.
With this feature, the PHY's clock and power can be recovered
correctly from low power mode, it is guaranteed by IC logic.

Both the PM_RUNTIME and PM_SLEEP callbacks call into the common
msm_otg_{suspend,resume} routines, however these routines are only being
built when CONFIG_PM_SLEEP. In addition, msm_otg_{suspend,resume} also
depends on msm_hsusb_config_vddcx(), which is only built when
CONFIG_PM_SLEEP.
Fix the CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME, !CONFIG_PM_SLEEP case by changing the
preprocessor conditional, and moving msm_hsusb_config_vddcx().
While we're here, eliminate the CONFIG_PM conditional for setting
up the dev_pm_ops.

the PHY layer is supposed to be optional,
considering some PHY have no control bus
for SW to poke around.
After commit 1ae5799 (usb: hcd: Initialize
USB phy if needed) any HCD which didn't provide
a PHY driver would emit annoying error messages.
In this patch we're decreasing those messages
to debugging only and we also add a PHY prefix
or use dev_dbg so we know where they're coming from.

Updates of SoC-near drivers and other driver updates that makes more sense to
take through our tree.
The largest part of this is a conversion of device registration for some
renesas shmobile/sh devices over to use resources. This has required
coordination with the corresponding arch/sh changes, and we've agreed
to merge the arch/sh changes through our tree.
Added in this branch is support for Trusted Foundations secure firmware,
which is what is used on many of the commercial Nvidia Tegra products
that are in the market, including the Nvidia Shield. The code is local
to arch/arm at this time since it's uncertain whether it will be shared
with arm64 longer-term, if needed we will refactor later.
A couple of new RTC drivers used on ARM boards, merged through our tree
on request by the RTC maintainer.

The largest part of this is a conversion of device registration for
some renesas shmobile/sh devices over to use resources. This has
required coordination with the corresponding arch/sh changes, and
we've agreed to merge the arch/sh changes through our tree.
Added in this branch is support for Trusted Foundations secure
firmware, which is what is used on many of the commercial Nvidia Tegra
products that are in the market, including the Nvidia Shield. The
code is local to arch/arm at this time since it's uncertain whether it
will be shared with arm64 longer-term, if needed we will refactor
later.
A couple of new RTC drivers used on ARM boards, merged through our
tree on request by the RTC maintainer.

None of these files are actually using any __init type directives
and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a

Include header file drivers/usb/phy/am35x-phy-control.h in
phy/phy-am335x-control.c because function am335x_get_phy_control() has
its prototype declaration in drivers/usb/phy/am35x-phy-control.h.

USB remote wakeup using PHY wakeup is supported only in standby mode.
Enabling the PHY_WKUP will break DS0 mode of system suspend.
If the same is enabled while entering DS0, AM33xx never stays in DS0,
it returns immediately from DS0. By default make the PHY wakeup
disabled, using sysfs entry enable the same manually to get
the remote wakeup working from standby.
echo enabled > /sys/bus/platform/device/<usb phy id>/power/wakeup
This will enable the PHY wakeup while going to standby.
PHY wakeup feature is required to wakeup the system from standby
state. Since AM33xx has a bug in which PHY wakeup should not
be enabled while entering DS0, disable the same by default.
A user wishing to use USB wakeup from standby mode need to enable
the same using the sysfs entries.
Also remove am335x_phy_runtime_(suspend/resume) this driver doesnot really
enable/disable the clocks to the PHY.
Add am335x_phy_(suspend/resume) and use the same for enabling the PHY_WKUP.
