The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is:
drivers/mfd/Kconfig:config MFD_SYSCON
drivers/mfd/Kconfig: bool "System Controller Register R/W Based on Regmap"
...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.
Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that
when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only.
Since module_init was not in use by this code, the init ordering
remains unchanged with this commit.
We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information
is already contained at the top of the file in the comments.

The regmap devicetree binding documentation states that a native-endian
property should be supported as well as big-endian & little-endian,
however syscon in its duplication of the parsing of these properties
omits support for native-endian. Fix this by setting
REGMAP_ENDIAN_NATIVE when a native-endian property is found.

Currently syscon has a fixed configuration of 32 bits for register and
values widths. In some cases, it would be desirable to be able to
customize the value width.
For example, certain boards (like the ones manufactured by Technologic
Systems) have a FPGA that is memory-mapped, but its registers are only
16-bit wide.
This patch adds an optional "reg-io-width" DT binding for syscon that
allows to change the width for the data bus (i.e. val_bits). If this
property is provided, it will also set the register stride to
reg-io-width's value. If not provided, the default configuration is
used.

They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes, just
removing a line in a structure.
Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.
Everything has been in linux-next for a while.

Currently a syscon entity can be only registered directly through a
platform device that binds to a dedicated syscon driver. However in
certain use cases it is desirable to make a device used with another
driver a syscon interface provider.
For example, certain SoCs (e.g. Exynos) contain system controller
blocks which perform various functions such as power domain control,
CPU power management, low power mode control, but in addition contain
certain IP integration glue, such as various signal masks,
coprocessor power control, etc. In such case, there is a need to have
a dedicated driver for such system controller but also share registers
with other drivers. The latter is where the syscon interface is helpful.
In case of DT based platforms, this patch decouples syscon object from
syscon platform driver, and allows to create syscon objects first time
when it is required by calling of syscon_regmap_lookup_by APIs and keep
a list of such syscon objects along with syscon provider device_nodes
and regmap handles.
For non-DT based platforms, this patch keeps syscon platform driver
structure so that syscon can be probed and such non-DT based drivers
can use syscon_regmap_lookup_by_pdev API and access regmap handles.
Once all users of "syscon_regmap_lookup_by_pdev" migrated to DT based,
we can completely remove platform driver of syscon, and keep only helper
functions to get regmap handles.

If we pass syscon device node itself as first parameter to this function
there is no need to parse and find syscon device node. So by allowing
"property" parameter as NULL allow syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle to
consider passed argument "np" itself as a syscon device node "syscon_np".
This will help us in avoiding addition of "syscon" property in a device node
which points back to same device node in device tree.

During a move to use managed resources, the .remove function all was
deemed superfluous which subsequently led to its deletion. As there are
no remaining users of the stored 'base' address we only have to use it
locally during probe.

At this time there are no users for this driver, but it is will

Add regmap based syscon driver.
This is usually used for access misc bits in registers which does not belong
to a specific module, for example, IMX IOMUXC GPR and ANATOP.
With this driver, client can use generic regmap API to access registers
which are registered into syscon.
