# Nearby stars and star orbits out to 25 light years, supplementary
# to Celestia's stars.dat.
# Because the RECONS survey tabulation has not been updated since 2010,
# the data mostly comes from the SIMBAD database, with most parallaxes
# coming from Gaia DR2. Gaia DR2 does not provide parallaxes for the brightest
# stars, so for those the Hipparcos parallaxes have been used. In some cases
# where Gaia DR2 parallaxes exist for one of the component stars, that has been
# used; if two or more components have them, the average of the derived distances
# have been used.
# Most brown dwarfs in this file do not have Gaia parallaxes, in which case the
# parallax comes from Martin et al. (2018), ApJ 867 (2), 109
