Douglas Anderson e11c7d39fa Revert "i2c: i2c-qcom-geni: Fix DMA transfer race"
[ Upstream commit 9cb4c67d77 ]

This reverts commit 02b9aec592.

As talked about in the patch ("soc: qcom: geni: More properly switch
to DMA mode"), swapping the order of geni_se_setup_m_cmd() and
geni_se_xx_dma_prep() can sometimes cause corrupted transfers. Thus
we traded one problem for another. Now that we've debugged the
problem further and fixed the geni helper functions to more disable
FIFO interrupts when we move to DMA mode we can revert it and end up
with (hopefully) zero problems!

To be explicit, the patch ("soc: qcom: geni: More properly switch
to DMA mode") is a prerequisite for this one.

commit e50e4f0b85 upstream.

If interrupt comes late, during probe error path or device remove (could

leads to external abort on non-linefetch on Toradex Colibri VF50 module

Additionally, the i2c_imx_isr() could wake up the wait queue
(imx_i2c_struct->queue) before its initialization happens.

The resource-managed framework should not be used for interrupt handling,
because the resource will be released too late - after disabling clocks.
The interrupt handler is not prepared for such case.

Hans de Goede 44e2bc80a6 i2c: core: Restore acpi_walk_dep_device_list() getting called after registering the ACPI i2c devs
[ Upstream commit 8058d69905 ]

Commit 21653a4181 ("i2c: core: Call i2c_acpi_install_space_handler()
before i2c_acpi_register_devices()")'s intention was to only move the
acpi_install_address_space_handler() call to the point before where
the ACPI declared i2c-children of the adapter where instantiated by
i2c_acpi_register_devices().

But i2c_acpi_install_space_handler() had a call to
acpi_walk_dep_device_list() hidden (that is I missed it) at the end
of it, so as an unwanted side-effect now acpi_walk_dep_device_list()
was also being called before i2c_acpi_register_devices().

Move the acpi_walk_dep_device_list() call to the end of
i2c_acpi_register_devices(), so that it is once again called *after*
the i2c_client-s hanging of the adapter have been created.

This fixes the Microsoft Surface Go 2 hanging at boot.

Nicolas VINCENT 21b9387253 i2c: cpm: Fix i2c_ram structure
[ Upstream commit a2bd970aa6 ]

the i2c_ram structure is missing the sdmatmp field mentionned in
datasheet for MPC8272 at paragraph 36.5. With this field missing, the
hardware would write past the allocated memory done through
cpm_muram_alloc for the i2c_ram structure and land in memory allocated
for the buffers descriptors corrupting the cbd_bufaddr field. Since this
field is only set during setup(), the first i2c transaction would work
and the following would send data read from an arbitrary memory
location.

[ Upstream commit 21653a4181 ]

Some ACPI i2c-devices _STA method (which is used to detect if the device
is present) use autodetection code which probes which device is present
over i2c. This requires the I2C ACPI OpRegion handler to be registered
before we enumerate i2c-clients under the i2c-adapter.

This fixes the i2c touchpad on the Lenovo ThinkBook 14-IIL and
ThinkBook 15 IIL not getting an i2c-client instantiated and thus not

Thierry Reding 44a3faa008 i2c: tegra: Restore pinmux on system resume
[ Upstream commit 44c99904cf ]

Depending on the board design, the I2C controllers found on Tegra SoCs
may require pinmuxing in order to function. This is done as part of the
driver's runtime suspend/resume operations. However, the PM core does
not allow devices to go into runtime suspend during system sleep to
avoid potential races with the suspend/resume of their parents.

As a result of this, when Tegra SoCs resume from system suspend, their
I2C controllers may have lost the pinmux state in hardware, whereas the
pinctrl subsystem is not aware of this. To fix this, make sure that if
the I2C controller is not runtime suspended, the runtime suspend code is
still executed in order to disable the module clock (which we don't need
to be enabled during sleep) and set the pinmux to the idle state.

Conversely, make sure that the I2C controller is properly resumed when
waking up from sleep so that pinmux settings are properly restored.

This fixes a bug seen with DDC transactions to an HDMI monitor timing
out when resuming from system suspend.

- drivers/crypto/caam/caamalg.c
Keep NXP version, as it already covers the functionality for the
upstream patch [d6bbd4eea2]

- drivers/gpu/drm/imx/dw_hdmi-imx.c
- drivers/gpu/drm/imx/imx-ldb.c
- drivers/gpu/drm/imx/ipuv3/ipuv3-crtc.c

base NXP version kept

- drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/enetc/enetc_pf.c
Commit [e8b86b4d87] from upstream solves
the kernel panic in case if probing fails. NXP has a clean-up logic
implemented different, where the MDIO remove would be invoked in any
failure case. Keep the NXP logic in place.

- drivers/thermal/imx_thermal.c
Upstream patch [9025a5589c] adds missing
of_node_put call, NXP version has been adapted to accommodate this patch
into the code.

resolved during merge.

- sound/soc/fsl/fsl_esai.c
Commit [53057bd4ac] upstream addresses the problem of endless isr in
case if exception interrupt is enabled and tasklet is scheduled. Since
NXP implementation has tasklet removed with commit [2bbe95fe6c],
upstream fix does not match the main implementation, hence we keep the
NXP version here.

- sound/soc/fsl/fsl_sai.c

Due to the lockless design of the driver, it is theoretically possible
to access a NULL pointer, if a slave interrupt was running while we were
unregistering the slave. To make this rock solid, disable the interrupt
for a short time while we are clearing the interrupt_enable register.
This patch is purely based on code inspection. The OOPS is super-hard to
trigger because clearing SAR (the address) makes interrupts even more
unlikely to happen as well. While here, reinit SCR to SDBS because this
bit should always be set according to documentation. There is no effect,
though, because the interface is disabled.

Wolfram Sang 422a01fc23 i2c: rcar: slave: only send STOP event when we have been addressed
[ Upstream commit 314139f9f0 ]

When the SSR interrupt is activated, it will detect every STOP condition
on the bus, not only the ones after we have been addressed. So, enable
this interrupt only after we have been addressed, and disable it
otherwise.

Clark Wang c9a7cc71dd MLK-24495 i2c: lpi2c: fix i2c timing issue
The clkhi and clklo ratio was not very precise before that can make the
time of START/STOP/HIGH LEVEL out of specification.

Therefore, the calculation of these times has been modified in this patch.
At the same time, the mode rate definition of i2c is corrected.

Raviteja Narayanam a14d6a9ddf Revert "i2c: cadence: Fix the hold bit setting"
[ Upstream commit 0db9254d6b ]

This reverts commit d358def706.

There are two issues with "i2c: cadence: Fix the hold bit setting" commit.

1. In case of combined message request from user space, when the HOLD
bit is cleared in cdns_i2c_mrecv function, a STOP condition is sent
on the bus even before the last message is started. This is because when
the HOLD bit is cleared, the FIFOS are empty and there is no pending
transfer. The STOP condition should occur only after the last message
is completed.

2. The code added by the commit is redundant. Driver is handling the
setting/clearing of HOLD bit in right way before the commit.

The setting of HOLD bit based on 'bus_hold_flag' is taken care in
cdns_i2c_master_xfer function even before cdns_i2c_msend/cdns_i2c_recv
functions.

The clearing of HOLD bit is taken care at the end of cdns_i2c_msend and
cdns_i2c_recv functions based on bus_hold_flag and byte count.
Since clearing of HOLD bit is done after the slave address is written to
the register (writing to address register triggers the message transfer),
it is ensured that STOP condition occurs at the right time after
completion of the pending transfer (last message).

Douglas Anderson 93bb40b79e i2c: i2c-qcom-geni: Fix DMA transfer race
[ Upstream commit 02b9aec592 ]

When I have KASAN enabled on my kernel and I start stressing the
touchscreen my system tends to hang. The touchscreen is one of the
only things that does a lot of big i2c transfers and ends up hitting
the DMA paths in the geni i2c driver. It appears that KASAN adds
enough delay in my system to tickle a race condition in the DMA setup
code.

When the system hangs, I found that it was running the geni_i2c_irq()
over and over again. It had these:

m_stat   = 0x04000080
rx_st    = 0x30000011
dm_tx_st = 0x00000000
dm_rx_st = 0x00000000
dma      = 0x00000001

Notably we're in DMA mode but are getting M_RX_IRQ_EN and
M_RX_FIFO_WATERMARK_EN over and over again.

Putting some traces in geni_i2c_rx_one_msg() showed that when we
failed we were getting to the start of geni_i2c_rx_one_msg() but were
never executing geni_se_rx_dma_prep().

I believe that the problem here is that we are starting the geni
command before we run geni_se_rx_dma_prep(). If a transfer makes it
far enough before we do that then we get into the state I have
observed. Let's change the order, which seems to work fine.

Although problems were seen on the RX path, code inspection suggests
that the TX should be changed too. Change it as well.

Wolfram Sang 58637b3027 i2c: rcar: always clear ICSAR to avoid side effects

On R-Car Gen2, we get a timeout when reading from the address set in
ICSAR, even though the slave interface is disabled. Clearing it fixes
this situation. Note that Gen3 is not affected.

To reproduce: bind and undbind an I2C slave on some bus, run
'i2cdetect' on that bus.
